well first off, you have to keep in mind where the deer are traveling and where they might drop their head, or quickly move it. I first off walk known winter trails from the bedding areas to the feeding areas paying attention to any spot the deer has to go under or over things, jumping cricks, dropping over a hill, jumping a fence, or walking under cedar trees that might force the buck to lower his head or catch a tine on a branch. then i follow the cricklines and fence lines because those are major hot spots and sheds will often be found within 50 yards of the fence. in feeding areas the buck is dropping his head to eat and he spends a lot of time here so this is one of my favorate areas to walk. once i find one i throw it in any dirrection and then walk around looking at it or for it, it can still be very hard to spot, but that will put that image of looking for, the arch in the antler or just the tips of tines, in you head.

vmartin pretty much said just about everything! I know i personally like to look on runways, or where theres a steep bank/dropoff, and just in some thick crap!

RE: Sheds???

I find most of mine in or around food plots. Like others have mentioned already pretty much bedding areas feeding areas and the travel route in between.
