RE: What are the chances of..........
Well, first impressions are pretty good. I'm a 30 3/8" AMO measured DL for 3D, and I've got the 30.5" mods on it now. I'm about 1/8 long after I took some twists out of the cables, and the valley is way too shallow right now. Tomorrow I'm headed to adealer that has 30" mods in stock, and I'll add some twists and over-rotate the cam a bit to get my desired DL and a bit more valley, and it should be perfect.
First impressions......the draw cycle has a LOT more area under the curve from static to full draw compared the the Apex I've been shooting, but I knew this going into it. My Apex shoots like a dream, but honestly I just wanted a few more FPS than it had to offer. I expect this Constitution to be roughly 15fps faster than the Apex with nearly the same specs. Shot a quick game tonight at 10 yards in the basement. 450 - 40x. Not my best game, but not bad considering I only shot about 10 arrows through it before putting up the target, and also considering the DL is still too long till I get the new mods. Tomorrow I head up to a dealer that has the correct mods, and also has an indoor 3D range with 30 targets. Hopefully they will let me on their press to install the mods and tweak things the way I want it, and then I can follow it up with a 30 target course. I'll post more tomorrow when I have a full 3D game on the bow. For now........ 2007 Constitution 64lbs - 30 3/8" (Thanks Matt!) New Gibblet strings (Thanks John!) T.R.U. Ball Axcel 3000 Sight CR Apex Scope w/ sunshade/.019 Razorfire up-pin 3x Classic Zeiss Lens (one of the few "zeiss" lenses.......) Brite Site Pro-Tuner/.010 medium width blade Shrewd Carbon Devibe 30" front rod/7" side rods/Doinker Burley 40 degree 10 down block Specialty Super Peep I still have a 8 arrows left from 3D season last year that I'm currently shooting, but I've got some of the coolest/ninja arrows you've ever seen on the way. I'll post those up when I've got them done. [8D] ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

RE: What are the chances of..........
I am very interested on your take of the intangables of this bow.The geometry is there,my questions would have more to do with the stack up and forgiveness of creep and such.

RE: What are the chances of..........
Sweet little rig man. Looks like some great groups as well.
|
RE: What are the chances of..........
SweeeeeaaaeeeT Matt. Very nice, wasn't sure what I was gonna see, good choice, like I said in GMMAT's thread, never considered the Conny, am considering it now.:D
|
RE: What are the chances of..........
Thumbs up!
Man that thing is sharp lookin'. How do you like the T.R.U. Ball Axcel sights compared to the Copper John Evo's? I gotta admit (me being a Hoyt lover), I think the Constitution has a beautiful riser. Just an all around, great looking bow. |

Pictured page one Germ.
LOL Matt / PA, I got a call today, I couldn't talk long cause I was setting up Matt Henslers/PA's bow. Matt wanted to shorten the draw to a 30" mod, I gave him the mod number. ;) |
RE: What are the chances of..........
Well I am guessing that is not a turkey slayer:D
Nice bow |
RE: What are the chances of..........
Well I shot it most of today and got most everything tuned on it except for DL. After visiting 3 dealers today I still don't have the right mods though, no one really keeps these kind of mods in stock. I'll have the right mods by Friday though, as well as 2x dozen new shafts that will be made up for the upcoming 3D season.
Right now I'm drawing about 30 5/8" on the button, and the cam is really not rolling quite the whole way over and it's still too long. I was hoping to use a 30.5" mod and taking twists out of the cables to get my 30 3/8" draw, but now the valley is waaaay too shallow. Drawing 63lbs peak weight, I'm seeing 27lbs at full draw (about 60% letoff). I'm still shooting it pretty well, but when I make a bad shot I'm way off because of too much tension built from the high holding weight. I'm hoping to get 30 3/8" DL with about 16lbs holding weight (about 75% letoff from 63 lbs peak). If I can get that, I'm sure this thing will be a shooter. It holds amazing. I shot a 14 target indoor 3D course today and shot 7 x's on it. Unfortunately every time I missed the X, I shot an 8......[8D]. Classic sign that holding weight is too high for the mass weight of the bow. I'll post more soon when I have this figured out. Oh yeah..........I'm getting 315 fps out of it at 318 grains and 63lbs........... Oh yeah, what is center shot on the rest of your guys Constitutions? Mine walks back good and shoots a good bullet hole, but seems to be pretty much at the end of the windage adjustment on my tuner blade rest. |
RE: What are the chances of..........
looks good, and good shootin
|
RE: What are the chances of..........
Threw the 29.5" mods in that came with the bow just to see what kind of valley I could get. The valley is fine with these, and I should be able to tune it with 30" mods to where I need it. It seems with the 30.5" mods, you run out of track for the limb peg before the cable stop hits the cable. It seems that you want to time up the cable stop to hit just about when the peg does. The wall is just spongy enough for me if you time up the peg to hit just barely after the cable stop does, I honestly like a little more give to it than just hitting peg on the limb.
I'm thinking I should be able to time up the peg and cable stops nicely with the 30" mods and still hit my DL just about perfect. With this said, if your longer than about my DL (30 3/8"), you may be better off looking at a Commander to get full DL and a nice valley. Man I'm anxious to get the new mods in, it should be perfect then. [8D] Will post more then. |
RE: What are the chances of..........
BC on my '08 Conny was 308. I'm shooting 285fps @ 60#'s.
|
RE: What are the chances of..........
Hey Matty I have a set of 30" mods here I'll sell ya..........oh wait nevermind I'm using them. [8D]
Sorry dude.;) |
RE: What are the chances of..........
w00t!!
30" mods are at the shop. I'm leaving work in a few minutes to pick them up. Plans are to come home tonight and finish making my 3D arrows for this year, get the draw mods in the bow, and get a good rough tune on it. Tomorrow I head to Dan's place (jawshooter) to get the right sight tape on the bow, and get it dialed in out to 80 yards. I'll have a few other nights this week to shoot and play with it, and then this weekend is my first outdoor 3D. I can't wait!! I'll post more thoughts tonight after shooting it a bit more. |
RE: What are the chances of..........
80 yd 3D???[8D]
You guys are GOOD! |
RE: What are the chances of..........
ORIGINAL: GMMAT 80 yd 3D???[8D] You guys are GOOD! The club that I'm planning to join near the new house also has a field archery course and a league that starts in May on Monday nights. I'll likely join this year and just shoot my 3D rig and look at it as 3D practice. That's out to 80 yards and lots of fun. |
RE: What are the chances of..........
I think I've got this thing dialed in 100% now. I've got a sight tape that holds true out to 60 yards on it now, and it really stacks them in there if I'm doing my part. I'm anxious to test the sight tape out to 80 yards now.
Right now I'm getting 304fps at 30", 59lbs, and with a 314 grain Pro 22. This is about 14fps faster than my old Apex with nearly the same specs. I've been using 53-55lbs since last 3D season, so I'm still getting used to pulling more weight and I anticipate cranking the bow up to 62lbs as soon as I feel I can draw it withsmooth dynamic back tension at that weight. I'm pretty sure I can get another 8-10fps by doing this and then it's really going to be smoking at 310-315 fps. Dan and I are headed out tomorrow to shoot two seperate 3D shoots, our first of the year. I shot a 28 target indoor 3D course today that goes out to 33ish yards and counting center 12's I ended up with a 300 (20 points up). The lighting was also terrible in there and they do some awful things to play this as well such as a 32ish yard standing black bear up tight against a black wall with poor light....lol. |
RE: What are the chances of..........
Matt, when you going to be at camp and venture down to experience our little favorite indoor course. Next weekend has an awesome outdoor course open. Weather permitting.

RE: What are the chances of..........
So tonight I really got a chance to see what happens when I creep with this thing. I've got the draw stop peg in a fairly aggressive spot giving me a bit more holding weight to keep me honest, and tonight I caught myself collapsing on a shot because of it. I ended up hitting about 1" high at 30 yards. That is about the same as a well creep tuned dually and I'm fairly happy with that. I intentionally creeped on several shots after this out of curiosity and each of the shots did the same thing. Now I also have my nock points tied in so that my loop has my release pulling directly behind the nock and the bow is tiller tuned well, so I'm not sure if this is affecting it or not. As far as I can tell though this bow is creep tuned as well as any dual cam I've ever owned, and thats a nice peace of mind for the hard up/downhill shots we have on the 3D courses around here.
