arrows
After the shoot I went to today, I decided to play around with some old 2413 al arrows I had - at 20 and 30 yards they grouped better than my acc's - can anyone explain this -
Anyhow i purchased a dozen of the new permagraphics xx78 with 3 4inch feathers and couldn't be happier Contemplating selling the Acc's they are a week old and 3 of the 12 have been shot The 2413 are still getting 261 out of my katera |
RE: arrows
I would have expected the A/C/C's to out shoot the old aluminum shafts, but maybe the spine and length of the old aluminum shafts is a "sweet spot" for your bow. Anyway, if it's working for you . . . . . . and 261 fps is nothing to be embarrased about. Pretty good speed for a hunting bow, IMO.

RE: arrows
Are you saying this happened without retuning to the aluminums? Would it have been a tuning issue with the ACC's and the bigger shafts were tuned better?
Like Roskoe, I'd suspect the ACC's to out perform the al's all things equal. |
RE: arrows
Could be a lot of things. The XX78 super slam is actually STRAIGHTER than an ACC. The ACC is .002 and the 78 is .001. But I highly doubt that's the difference. My guess is this.
First, the 2413's are a bit heavier, therefore slower, therefore more forgiving. Secondly, I would suspect the 2413 is spined better. |

Arrow straightness will give you some kind of idea about the spine consistancies, better straightness better spine consistancy but that doesn't hold true across the board either. There have been alot of tournaments won with fatboys that are rated at .005. I will say spine/tune are what yielded the results seen by brknarrow. |
RE: arrows
Rob- Yeah I completely tuned the bow to the 349's last week- retuned today -2413 slight nocking point adjustment - and shootin bullet holes
I shot a 210 with the 349's today --- 20 targets Mobo- Both arrows are showing spined properly for the poundage?? Not sure Funny thing is I started shooting the 2413's and they impacted pretty darn close to the same spot at 20 yards with 1/2 inch Honestly I thought about and believe this may have something to do with it I shoot a Gator Jaw release - that attaches directly to the string - I use a button underneath and nocking point on top- with the slimmer 349's there was oppty for play as the shaft did not take up the full space of the Gator jaws- the fatter shafts are using a greater amount of that space - Make sense ??? |
