what are you going to do?
to improve the place you bowhunt this year?
|
RE: what are you going to do?
Scout a ton. I have always loved scouting but I have taken it to a new level this year. Been out at least 5 times for an average of 4 hours a scout since the season ended. Finally got a GPS and am working hard on mapping and exploring many of the areas I hunt on the military base.

RE: what are you going to do?
I was invited to join a hunting club this year so the area I'll hunt is going to be different than I'm used to hunting. I plan to scout more, bush-hog as many areas as I can to promote new growth and make shooting lanes.

RE: what are you going to do?
I'm going to try to hunt some places I haven't hunted in a while. I've done some walking this weekend and found some places with good potential.

RE: what are you going to do?
Replanting my clovers, expanding my plot more with some other plantings as well.

RE: what are you going to do?
I'm on the fence right now about our main food plot. We planted a turnip/clover/rye mixture this past season, and it proved to be a more mid-late winter source for the deer than in the fall/early winter. I've heard that it's best to give a certain plot a least two years to allow the local wildlife to become accustomed to it, so we may replant, or we may plant a new mix of heavy clovers and some sort of protein.
I'm hoping to also add a smaller plot adjoining our main plot. Not sure on what plant I want in there yet. |
RE: what are you going to do?
More food plots. Mineral licks
|
RE: what are you going to do?
weed some more Does, and pass on smaller bucks, try to take some yotes out.
|
RE: what are you going to do?
we will be planting more soybeans and corn this year. and getting more serious with our predator control..
|
RE: what are you going to do?
More scouting. Went out today and found two awsome places to hunt. Trails going everywhere and sign everywhere. Also going to put out some mineral licks.
|
RE: what are you going to do?
much more scouting, and seeing how i hunt public land i want to plant some small secluded small plots that hopefully nobody will find.
|
RE: what are you going to do?
try and plant a couple of small food plots to keep deer on property
|
RE: what are you going to do?
put in some food plots and change up some stand placements. I also plan on making some trails for me to get in and out alot quieter. Plus I will be catching all my bucks in the area in live traps and injecting them with a growth hormone.
|
RE: what are you going to do?
Planting some new food plots and changing what has been planted in other areas. Scouting out some new locations as some of the stands have been in place for a couple seasons.
|
RE: what are you going to do?
branch out into new areas, hang more stands, scout out new bucks to target... basically have more options..so I dont over hunt any one particular buck or his area...
