HELP ME PICK!! Vangaurd vs. SKB 4119

Well, i've narrowed my case hunt down to the Vangaurd and the SKB 4119 for my Dren. The price difference isn't a whole lot Vangaurd ($180 with shipping), and the SKB i can get locally for $212 with tax included. My dilema is this, both cases seem to be very well made and people like both of them. Some people say that they wouldn't trust their Vangaurd on a Plane or in another strenuous setting, also the Vangaurds only come with a 1 year warranty. The SKB is basically a tank and will stand up to anything, but it is kinda bulky for every day use. However, the SKB comes with a $1500 warranty incase your bow is damaged, and it has a lifetime warranty on all of the latches, handle, etc. What would you guys choose? Any help or opinion is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Matt

SKB

I was on the national champion shooting team for Lindenwood University a couple years ago and almost everyone was using SKBs. We flew all over the country shooting and never had problems. Some of the shotguns people had were well over $10,000...

I had an SKB that I used quite a bit before I started using parallel limb bows and if I were to ever travel with my bow again the SKB would be the case I would get. I had the double case so I could fit more gear into it and it still was not that bulky.

The way I look at it is this. Now I primarily use a soft bow case because the hard case I have is very bulky and heavy (Not SKB). The SKB was not much bigger in size than my soft bow case and quite light for how much protection it offers. Also, I can stack things on top of the SKB case if I need to where I need to make sure my soft case is always on top of whatever I am transporting. If I had to have only one case it would be an SKB double without a doubt.

I looked at both and found the SKB to be as you say, a tank. Yes it's a little bulky, but dang it's solid. I went with it. You learn to manuver it.[8D] My Guardian is protected agains a nuclear explosion I figure. LOL Get the SKB.

I would get a pelican 17XX weapons case. There are three sizes to choose from. They are as indestructable as they come. They are sold as firearms cases but the foam inside comes as a solid piece and you cut to fit exactly what you are going to put in it. The two smaller sizes (1700 & 1720)are perfect for bows, quiver, arrows, releases, accessories, etc.... You can cut the foam so that everything you are going to put inside has its own place to go and doesn't rattle around inside.

Unconditional lifetime warranty.

Are you sure a Dren would fit in there, with arrows and everything? Usually rifle cases are much skinnier than bow cases.

Iown a SKB Double bow case for my Mathews DXT. I upgraded from the original Switchback from 05. Over the last 3 years, I travel from Georgia to Wisconsin (my home state)every year by plane to go hunt the rut in WI. My case must be getting abused by the damn airlines judging by all the marks and dings on the case. It had taken a beating and none of my gear has ever been affected. I highly recommend this case. Hope this helps!
