I just bought a new bow and now feel bad
I just bought a new Diamond Rapture on Saturday. There is a picture off it on my archery teams page (17 Autumn Assassins). Well I promised my old bow to someone so they can try it out to see if they could get into it. Here is where the bad feeling comes. I was talking to my pastor today how is also an avid hunter and told him about my new purchase. He asked if I would be interested in selling my older one, and proceeded to tell me about his. He has a bow from the mid 80's, with only 1 site pin. He also has a son that is getting into archery and spends what he can to get him the newer stuff. Now I am stuck in a tight spot. Do I tell the buddy that I can't give him the bow because I want to give it to my pastor? Can you all give me some advise?

Give it to your friend. You told him you would and now you should.

RE: I just bought a new bow and now feel bad
Give it to your buddy. Your pastor will understand Im sure, he has souls to save..;)

RE: I just bought a new bow and now feel bad
Why would you do that, is your pastor more important than your friend?
|
RE: I just bought a new bow and now feel bad
You can sell him mine and then you will make me and your Pastor and the other guy happy and maybe even you happy. just kiddin, i say that if you promised it to one person then you need to keep that promise.

Put your big boy pants on and make the decision.....what little one there actually is here....

RE: I just bought a new bow and now feel bad
If you feel so bad then give your old bow to your buddy and your new bow to your pastor.
I'm betting your not feeling that bad are you. |
RE: I just bought a new bow and now feel bad
God won't think any less of you for giving it to your friend instead of your Pastor.

RE: I just bought a new bow and now feel bad
I got another idea, you could give the accesories to one and the bow to the other

RE: I just bought a new bow and now feel bad
That's why I keep my old bows...Think your pastor would be interested in a Bear Whitetail it was new in 1975...I got a new (used) bow in 1995 or so, still using it...:D

First, If you already promised it to your buddy then I would sell it to him. That would be rude no matter who else wanted it. If you did decide not to sell it to him I would either make the preacher pay a fair price or sell it and donate the money to the church.

You give it to your buddy and then put a little xtra in the offering plate this Sunday! :)
What does your congregation do for him for pastor appreciation month(October)? We send out a "secret" email to the congregation and ask them to give a little for this cause if they want. We also give him gift certificates for restaurants or whatever.(your local Mathews dealer) :D |
RE: I just bought a new bow and now feel bad
Here is the thing the guy that I first promised it to, wasn't to buy it, just try it out to see what he thought about bow hunting. He never really said that he wanted it. That is where the problem is. Do I wait time to see if he ever gets it or pass it off. Not really a friend of mine, but a friend of my wifes that she used to work with.

If I were you I would ask that guy you promised it too if he is even interested in it. If he is then let him shoot it. If you didn't say he could have it and he likes itthen sell it to him for a reasonable price. With that money give it to your pastor in a form of a gift certificate so that he has to use it for archery. If the guy whoyou promised it to shows no interst then give it to your pastor. either way if you feel this bad the pastorshould reap the benefits from whatever profit there is.

Heck if it's just a ex-coworker of the wife, heck with him....
Of course, you could just tell him the truth.... |

RE: I just bought a new bow and now feel bad
You told your friend you would give it to him first so thats who you should give it to?
|
RE: I just bought a new bow and now feel bad
Give it to your buddy
|
RE: I just bought a new bow and now feel bad
I still dont understand why you feel you need to "give" it to the preacher to begin with. Most of the ones I have seen draw a pretty nice salary and should be able to buy one on their own.
If you had already talked to a guy previously about it I would let him decide whether or not he wants in nonetheless. rick |
RE: I just bought a new bow and now feel bad
I would give it to my friend as promised.

RE: I just bought a new bow and now feel bad
I'm with the majority on this one , give it to your friend . You cannot tchange your mind after telling him he could have it , thats bad .

RE: I just bought a new bow and now feel bad
Why don't you talk to your buddy to make sure he really wants it and is commited to trying it out. Tell him about your situation and have him make up his mind. If he tells you he doesn't want it, then you know you can give it to the Pastor. Hey, you never know, maybe you could go hunting with the Pastor and his son (except on Sundays).
