8 in mineFive hard hiking miles in , and goats and pigs all over . Usually stay in the mountains for two or three days . Last thing you want to do is have to come out early cause you ran out of arrows. It is a bit much but you never know.

I go up with 4 arrows, that's what my quiver holds, and trust me, heres a story why....
First year bow hunter, very green, as you can imagine.
My buddie got me into archery and didn't educate me well enough and I quickly learned some valuable lessons.

Had a button buck come into me broad side @ 15 yards, I shot, and poof, right over his back, after hitting a branch I didn't see.
Sombeatch! Nock another arrow, deer is now broadside @ 12 yards after running a bit.
Poof, arrow sticks in his thigh after hitting another branch. Limps away blatting, and I'm feel completely horriable, wounding a deer.

20 minutes later, a Bear comes down a trail and 20 yards broadside.
Now, I am in my tree stand beating myself up, thinking I will never get a chance the rest of my life, keep in mind that I'm from NH, where deer are not as plentiful.
Bear stop perfectly, and poof, hit another branch, right over it's back. (that's 3 arrows if your counting).
Nock my last arrow and bend down to miss the branch, right into it's vitals, Yatzee!
Thank God I had 4 arrows.
A VERY hard lesson learned, moral of the story, clear your lanes and never deviate from those lanes and force shots.
I wish my buddy was more experienced and taught me this
