What if ....

You shot a new world record buck and the hunting company's were asking you to endorse their products , would you or would you only endorse the one's you really used for that hunt.

OKbowhunter20 02-22-2008 01:16 PM

RE: What if ....

I wouldn't endorse a product if I didnt use it on the hunt or it didnt help me take the animal

Now if I used a product, and I thought it help he with the hunt...then yea I might endorse them

RE: What if ....

Are they paying me or asking me to do it out of the kindness of my own heart?

Paul

RE: What if ....

If they offerd to pay ... then everyone would say heck yea and take the money but let's be honest ok.

RE: What if ....

I would only endorse a product if i thought it was a good product and if i thought it would help me. But i don't think i have to worry about a company wanting me to endorse their products.

txjourneyman 02-22-2008 01:23 PM

RE: What if ....

Whats the line from that movie?...... Oh yeah, SHOW ME THE MONEY!
EDIT: Just think of the hunts I could pay for with what they pay me, Oh yeah, and endorsments = free products.

NEW61375 02-22-2008 01:23 PM

RE: What if ....

I will endorse the products I believe in or have used if they were paying, whether or notI used them on that hunt. I guess that would be alittle white lie I could live with. I got kids to feed and send to college, for the right price and a replica I would probably sell the whole mount. Reminds me of the scene in Forrest Gump where he endorses the ping pong paddles.

mobow 02-22-2008 01:27 PM

RE: What if ....

I don't think I could honestly answer that question w/out being in the situation. I can sit here and tell you that I won't endorse a product I didn't use on that hunt, and that I wouldn't lie and say that I did.....That's a very romantic thought, but......With everything that would be going on, money flying around, offers being made......you've suddenly become "famous"......I just don't think it's possible to really answer that.

What is it that Forrest Gump's momma said? Oh yeah, "When I was in China I just loved playing ping pong w/ my ( X BRAND) paddle, which everybody knows isn't true but momma said was just a little white lie and wouldn't hurt anybody anyway." ;)

RE: What if ....

I would endorse a product if I thought it was good product, one that I would really use. I would do so even I did not use it on the hunt in which I killed this record animal. I don't see a problem with this. Look at all the people that are sponsored by bow companies. Do you think they shoot a Matthews, Hoyt, PSE or whatever because they think it is the best there is, or because they are being paid or provided with some benefit to do so?

Agreed.....kind of makes you wonder about all thoseendorsements from other "non-pro's" doesn't it. Can't say that I know I'd turn it down either.

Ifthey wanted me to endorse a product that I didn't believe in, or if they wanted me to say I used it on the hunt and I didn't ..........no way .......I would DEFINITELY do it outside of those examples tho ....

Tell ya what I would do ... if I was lucky enough to harvest such a beast , I would only endorse the products I used on that hunt.
From the camo , the boots , the bow , sents whatever else I used regaurdless of pay money or any other compensation.

Sorry, I'm from NY and have no problem being blunt. What's that line from Goodfellas? Oh yeah, "**** you, pay me! You had a fire? **** you, pay me! Business was slow? **** you, pay me!" Whoever came with the biggestgarbage bag full of moneywould be my pimp. Putting all ethics and god fearing and whatever else aside, it would be irresponsible of me as sole provider for my family to not take advantage of a opportunity to do right by them.

Have fun fellas, Blast away!

I would have to believe in the product before endorsing it, otherwise I believe you are lying.
Kind of like, how Laywers protect the villans when they know their guilty, it's just not right, or maybe I watch to many movies?
Sorry to some of the Lawyers out there, but the others are blood thirsty money mogers, which are only a step above a used car saleman.
Why do you think there are so many jokes about your chosen craft?

Sorry I'm in left field again!
By lying, I mean, hipocrit.

I couldn't have made it possible without my Rear Veiw Deer Mirror !!

This monster didn't have a chance sneaking in down wind of my scentlok camo!!

I don't go hunting without my bowtech!!

I couldn't have done it with out so and so outfitter !!

Seems simple enough with the right color of green in Tim's hand. :D Actually I think I'll work on getting my world record first and not worry about how much money I could possible make off it.

I know one thing... Fran will be my lawyer when it happens !!!

1st of all let's be real, we're talking money here, though if we're talking $5,000 to endorse some peice of junk, no thanks, but if we're talking $100,000's of dollars, personally I'd want to endorce what I used on my bow that instant to take the buck with. But I'd for the right price endorse another product I found to be a quality item and actually switched to using.....

Also basspro etc...thse shops buy the actual head from these guys I believe for 20-40k usually, would you sell? May even been much less? What would it take for you to sell a WR head? or a monster they wanted to buy liek Tony L buck from iowa, the ML buck?

Paul L Mohr 02-23-2008 01:24 PM

RE: What if ....

Ok, if I'm getting payed I would probably do it. I do still have morals though. I'm not going to endorse something I think is crap or wouldn't consider using myself. I might need money, but I'm not a whore. Especially if my reputation was based on it.

Like say for instance someone asked me to endorse the WB rest. I don't particularly care for them, but in no way do I think they are junk. I would have no problem endorsing factual statements about the product.

There's one thing in life that has no price and no one can take away from me. Honesty &integrity. Hell no. They aren't going to pay you enough for me to give it a second thought. I really hate two types of people in life... Liars and thieves. What are they going to give you... 2 or 3 thousand.. maybe 5. It wouldbe gone before the sting of being liar.

I wouldn't endorse a product unless i use it or plan on using it. IDK why but I dont think I could endorse something knowing it isn't a great product and that I would personally never use it.

Those of you that say money talks, don't forget that the companies that you do use have money too!lol I'm sure propositions would come from everywhere, just choose the ones you believe in. No one would ever pony up $100,000 bucks:eek:. A few thousand and free products is enough for me, should be for anyone else.

I say show me the WR buck, then I'll worry about the money side of things.

I don't think I would. Only way possible would be if I actually used what they wanted me to endorse. About 15 years ago my dad and 2 other guys shot 3 P@Y Coues' Deer in New Mexico all with Traditional Bows. They ranked very high in the P@Y book. Coues' Deer are nicknamed the (Grey Ghost), its very unheard of to see 3 bow hunters go in an area and have this kind of luck. Bowhunter Magazine and a few others wanted to do a story on them and a few other companies wanted to endorse there products with my dads group, the money I guess was a good chunk but they all turned it down. Biggest reason was that they didn't want to give out the spot they hunted and secondly there not your typical Chuck Adams- endorse products that you don't use!! I don't believe in that kind of BS and my dads group didn't either.

If the money was right, I would endorse the products I actually was using when I shot the buck.

After the fact I would endorse other products if I liked them, as long as they didn't try to pass it off that I used them while taking the buck.

You admit you would be dishonest then you quote proverbs in your signature. This I find interesting and a bit puzzling.
Also you want to start a business. If it is in the hunting field and people found out about your dishonesty, how far do you think you would get?

I simply think it's the same as lieing to say you used something when you didn't. Why would you do that. Yes, I do slam some celebs(they make it so easy) and I build others up. I think some of them are just tremendous while others are ... well, easy targets and so deserving. You'll never see me taking shots at folks like Chuck Adams, Bill Jordan, Jim Dougherty, etc. Since when does someones TV stardom eliminate them from a few shots concerningright and wrong.

Are we taking this thread too seriously? The question was ask. What's wrong with giving your answer.
