Most newer bows shoot fast enough, that out of a tree stand,a 20 yrd fixed pin will work much like a pendilum out to 30 yrds.IMO !

No problem ! I used one when I first got started. I shot a Keller which was extremely noisy but worked!! Since then I have found that all the bows I have shot in the 250-300 fps range can easily shoot to 30 yrds with a 20 yrd pin out of a tree stand with very little or no compensation. You don't have to change anything when shooting on the ground and there are no moving parts to make noise with a fixed pin. I have seen some nice looking pedilums lately ,but I personally don't see any need for one unless your shooting around 200 fps.

Around 200fps would be better for a pendlum??/ You would be better off with fixed at that speed<img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle> I have found that the faster the better with a pendlum. I shoot a Savage and its deadly out to 35 if I wont to take a shoot that far. Shooting about 270 fps. Hope it helps ya

CBM, the pendulums were initially made for slower bows years ago but I shoot fast bows and still use a pendulum. I have 4 different models here and all are good. Email me if you want to talk more.

Lonebowman,

I used the Keller sight for geeez I guess 15 years at least now, maybe 20 time flies so fast. The idea was to sight it in from a certain height and the sight ,the way it is designed, would compensate for arrow drop, etc. which back in those days, we used heavy arrows and much slower bows. Bows today are so fast, 1 pin is good to 30 or 35 yards in some cases and with lighter arrows.

A pendulum is a good choice (IMO) for a fast bow as well. I shoot fast bows and use pendulums. By doing your homework with it, you dont have to think about the distance, unless your bow arm is approaching the horizontal position and you know the shot is too far, this is where practice comes in and knowing your equipment. I like 1 pin on my sights. I dont like multiple pins so the pendulum works great FOR ME. Many hunters have good success without pendulums and I am not knocking non pendulum type sights by any means.

I switched over from Keller due to the fiber optics that the newer pendulums now have. They are made form high impact type plastics and are quieter IMO.
