Would you be in favor of...

1. What state do you live in?
2. Would you be for or against a "earn a buck" tag. (meaning you have to harvest and check in a doe before you can recieve a buck tag)

I know many people would cheat the system by calling in a doe that they never really shot to get a buck tag, but tell me your thoughts anyways

my thoughts
1. Illinois
2.Yes

Ohio

No

Where I live there is nowhere near an overpopulation of deer. In other parts of the state itcould be good idea. However, Ohio has a pretty liberal tag system and quite a few counties that have high deer#'sare averaging more does taken per year than bucks. So, we aren'tto the point that it is necessaryyet, and hopefully we never will be.

Michigan and yes.I'm not sure if it would make a big diff from the part of the state I live in.We get a ton of pressure and they shoot anything without spots even "Buttons".So It could go either way as far has helping or hurting.IMO

Missouri

No

We do have some managed hunts that operate that way, but when the season is only a couple weeks long in those areas I think it's needed to thin out the herd. I don't think we need a restriction for the normal season as there seem to be as many hunters out for meat as there are out for the racks. We have unlimited doe tags for both firearm and archery seasons in most if not all of the state now.

I'm out on that deal, but I'm all for antler restrictions.

We can kill six deer a year with no more than 2 bucks... I like it just fine that way.:D:D:D

Wouldn't make a differance for me,I hunt Doe's for meat.....I guess what I am saying is I would shoot a doe 1st anyway over a Buck that way I have meat then I would go for the buck at my option.

I am from Illinois and I would be in favor of that. There is more to managing deer than just letting 1 1/2 and 2 1/2 year old buck walk.

Florida..... earn a buck, no.
Doe seasons...... absolutely!

Heck, we have enough people breaking the law shooting does out of season and Florida will not, for what ever dumb arsed reason, instate doe days on the states management land. We ask for doe seasons all the time and we never get any. Only archry season on the states management lands.

1. NC

2. Yeah I'd be all for it. I'd be all for having to shoot 2 or 3 before you got a buck tag. To "ME".....there's more to it than what the hunter "wants". We have a population problem in portions of NC. I know this is also a double edged sword. See.....the NCWRC doesn't actually care what the sex of the deer being killed is......as long as it's being killed. Telling some hunters they had to kill does might honestly drive them away from hunting. I believe that 100%.

To "ME"......it's simply orresponsible to know this (pop problem).....and still only take bucks.

Yes. I used to be part of the problem.

wis. has eab. in some areas of high population. I don't mind it if they allow you to carry your era forward to the next year. That way you can start the season out shooting whatever you choose.

2. YES!!! If we want to start better controling the deer herd, especially here in southern Illinois, make EVERYONE who wants to or pays to kill a buck kill a doe.

KANSAS
**** NO!

in kansas city i think they could consider it. there would be no point in most other areas. most people around any "hickville" shoot anything that moves anyways, doe or buck, it all evens out.

i would possibly consider being for an antler restriction to allow the bucks to grow past 2 years old. the only problem with that is i admire anyone who hunts for meat and not to say "my buck is bigger than yours." the whole management thing should be on individuals decide and the state to suggest what should be done.

we have a earn a buck on your second tag. in other words you need to check in 2 does then they will let you buy another either sex tag

No, there is ample opportunity to kill does here and many do. We have a long season and liberal bag limits. The antler restrictions in place in many parts of the state are working.

NY longisland, and we all ready have to do that, you can shoot 1 buck, than 1 doe, and if you bring the does head in you get another either tag.

In MD, at a lot of places, I have to kill a doe before I can kill a buck. Hey, no big deal. I need teh meat anyway, but it has happened where I seen a nice buck.

I'm in the same boat as Soap. In westchester, ny we basicallyy get unlimited doe tags, and each one you get checked(head) you receive a either sex tag. I would rather see a antler restriction rule so all the yahoos will stop shooting the juvies. Guys around here will cut the heads off of road kill does to get the extra either sex tag just so they can go kill another spike. Rediculous.

In principle yes, but in practical implementation...NO

I think there are other (and better) ways to protect bucks and urge people to shoot does.

2. Would you be for or against a "earn a buck" tag. Yes for it. And for an Antler Restriction as well. Most bucks around here are dead by 1.5 years old.
