First of all welcome to the board, I don't chew so I can't answer your question, but I will say that as long as the wind is right it would be no problem, as far as where to spit, in a cup or the ground, I don't know.

Welcome to the board, You will get different opinions on this, but I have to tell, I have a dip in my my mouth about 90% of the time Im on stand, and I dont think they are spooked by the smell at all. I think deer are spooked by smells that they associate with humans and wintergreen Timberwolve or Skoal is not one of them. I have actually heard of deer licking spots where some of my hunting buddies have spit. I have never seen that happen because I dont spit alot while Im on stand. Anyway, that just my opinion.

RE: SKOAL?

I chew Kodiak and never spit until I take the chew out, but one day I wanted a change so I picked up a can of Copenhagen. I took a chew one day on stand and spilled some on the ground(by accident) right where a deer had walked 5 min before. After an hour or so, another doe walked in that same spot, stopped, smelled the ground and bolted. I wasn't going to shoot her, so I just stayed sitting without any movement. So it's my thought that they don't like it. I guess I'm never chewing copenhagen in stand again.

I been dipping Copenhagen for 27 years and I have never seen a BAD reaction from deer . Had serval last year that came up ans smelled where I had taken the dip out and dropped it on the ground.BTW I dont spit.Noiw for the deer I have never seen when I was dipping...dont know .... I am sure that it has spooked deer that I never seen. But for the ones that I have seen it didnt bother um either way.

i don't chew but i do smoke cigarettes, and i've had deer walking under my stand while i was smoking so i don't think those kinds of smells bother them. i've even had deer come right up to a cigarette butt and sniff it and then go on with its business..

Buck or doe big or small they all taste the same and are a trophy in my book.
