RE: IDIANA Hunters...
I know in recent years IN has taken steps to increase their deer quality and some experts predict they should soon be producing more and more monters, a few reasons why......surrounded by states that produce monsters....so why dont they? long liberal rifle seasons most say is the problem, though I hear they're trying ot become a big buck state.

RE: IDIANA Hunters...
A friend of mine hunts South West Indiana and gets 140 inchers pretty often. So Im sure there are some monsters there somewhere. He hunts strictly agriculture areas with small wooded areas less than 60 acres.

RE: IDIANA Hunters...
Indiana is great as far as nutrition and habitat go. The gun season runs 2 weeks like Cougar said, and directly following that is the muzzleloader season. So, in reality it is 3 weeks straight of guns. Personally, I think that is the reason for smaller bucks, they just get slaughtered.
Anyway, with 1500 unhunted acres, you certainly have the makings for some real monsters. It is nice flat terrain in most of the state and if he is farming it I would guess it is fairly flat too. I think you are in for a treat! |
RE: IDIANA Hunters...
Drop, there are no big deer in Indiana :D
Im only familiar with the southern end, there are some monsters, i have seen them but we got hit hard with EHD last summer, its gonna be a couple two to three years before we rebound. We have a one buck rule, and an extreamly long firearm season [:o]Here is a link for the licenses info for non resident. http://http://www.in.gov/dnr/fishwild/licenses/buylic.htm |
