bowhunting out of blinds on the go.

I'm looking for info from other bowhunters about blind hunting. I know that blinds are very effective when set out and then hunted later.

But, I hunt public land, we can't leave them out. I hunt usually a different spot each day I go and I usually use my Lone Wolf climber. However, there are a few areas that I really wish to hunt, but there are no suitable trees to climb. These are usually grown up clearcuts between 3 and 20 acres.

What I want to know, is if I scout an area and go in the next morning and set up a blind and brush it in, will deer steer away from it most of the time or part of the time or hardly ever? I really don't want to buy a blind and use it a few times and get busted by deer and then let it sit unused. I'm looking at getting a double bull, but will consider any good archery blind.

Thanks for any help.

Oh, BTW is the double bull 360 very heavy. Could I pack it 1 to 2 miles?

HB,

I hunt from the ground exclusively due to a bad back. I carry a rolled up piece of cammo fabric which I use as the basis for a quick ground blind. It is lite, compact and can be washed with scent free soap at the beginning of hte season.

ihunt out of natural ground blinds
Thats how i do it if im hunting from the ground. Much less chance of deer catching on and makes for much better video than the "dark hole" of the double bull...

The main reason that I want a blind is for rainy weather and on really windy or cold days it should be warmer. I have hunted off the ground some, I much prefer 20-25 feet up in a tree.

I do a lot of what I call " run and gun" on public land during the rut. I move and call a lot. I also hunt from the ground at other times. I have always used camo netting. I bought a blind and will use it this coming season. I do not think it will bother the deer. The reason I will be using it vs. netting is I believe it will control scent much better and in bad weather it will allow me to hunt longer.
