my trip is about 160 miles one way to our cabin and from opening of bowseason to end of mzl season we were there evry weekend theway we look at it is there is nothing you can do to change the prices and i figure with the amount i spend each fall the gas is just another part of it

I have no choice but to drive to hunt, cost me around $100/month to hunt 2 or 3 days a week. If I had a choice to hunt closer, I would probably split it up 50/50. I won't just stop going to my spot, but I might cut back some if I had to.

Luckily it didn't affect my hunting this year... I actually got out more this last year than in previous years. Was able to do 2 out of state trips and multiple in state trips to the other side of the state.

Gas prices won't seriously affect Americans until it reaches the magical $5.00/gallon mark. IMHO....

And that's why it WILL hit 5 bucks a gallon. People just arent' willing to give up the American way of life, which is centered around the automobile. Probably in the next 18 months we'll see 5 bucks a gallon.

They're going to just keep hammering us until we say "I give". And then they'll keep it at that price.

When I'm at home I have a 15 mile drive to get to my hunting spots either way I go. I have felt the effects of higher gas price, but I just cut somewhere else. I have 4 trips planned this year to NE and Darn the Gas is higher out there than it is here!!

I probably put around 10,000 miles on my truck last year for bowfishing travels. Of course, most of that was pulling a pontoon boat. I get about 10-12 mpg with the boat behind me. Gas prices sucked, but didn't stop me during the summer. However, it did hold me back a bit for deer hunting. (go figure)

I travel once a week to the archery shop to shoot. That's 115 miles round trip. [:-] On the plus side, I don't have to drive to work.

I try to make up for the gas expense elsewhere. (no movies, fancy restaurants, I've been wearing the same tennis shoes for three years, ate my dog, live in a box, etc.)

Not as much as the work schedual.70+ hrs a week +164 mile round per day will kill a hunting season....
