what do you like
what bow would you hunt with a quiet and very accurate bow let say 250 fps to 288fps or
a fast bow not as accurate let say 290 fps to 325fps |
RE: what do you like
There is no substitute for accuracy, none.
I personally think speed is overrated unless you are regularly shooting out to yardageswith which youhave jumping the string concerns and arrow drop concerns.Or unless it is just something you enjoy. Most of my shots are 25 yards and under and ANY of todays bows can handle that. I've never even chronoed my bow, I justknow it is deadly. |
RE: what do you like
I shoot a bow thats around 220 fps but very acurate for me. I have yet to see the need to spend what they want for new compounds

RE: what do you like
I would rather have the accuracy over speed. But if you get either the 82nd or the 101st you get both:D

RE: what do you like
Accurate and quiet 250-288 is still more than enough speed.Thats really all you need to have as longas your arrow has enough KE behind it.

Is there a premise that a faster bow is not as accurate?

RE: what do you like
my old browning spits arrows(XX75 2319s)at a whooping 203fps..killed many of deer with it...
|
RE: what do you like
I agree there is no subsitute for accuracy, I would rather have a little bit slower bow and a quieter one then one that shoots 350fps.
|
RE: what do you like
Fast is harder to group if you don't practice. A fast bowis supposed to be less accurate or harder to shoot, my X Force is that way, but only b/c Im not used to it yet, Im getting better with it though. Before long I will be shooting fairly well I hope and the speed won't be an issue. I just like speed, don't need it, just like it!!
|
RE: what do you like
accuracy above all, heck i'll take a noisy one that is accurate than a fast one that isn't consistant with making the shot. it does no good to shoot over a deer at light speed or
worse wound it |
RE: what do you like
this is true, but people need to understand when they go out to look for a speed bow, that they can be accurate as long as they shoot more and more often, I can't tell you how much of a difference it makes to shoot as much as you can, even with a slower bow...

RE: what do you like
Get the 82nd or 101st and you get all of the above besides the slow part, like Mohunter said

ORIGINAL: GMMAT Is there a premise that a faster bow is not as accurate? If it were I would not give up my accuracy. Todays bows are such an advance over bows 15 to 20 years ago. Dan |
RE: what do you like
I don't see how a fast bow (if put together right) isn't more accurate than a slower one. Maybe more touchy but with a good shooter a fast bow definately has more overall potential
