What size arrows do you use?

What size arrows do you use compared to your draw length? im trying to figure out what arrows to order, if im a 27" draw and use a QADdrop away rest with my DXT, what size arrows should i order?

Just take a longer than normal arrow and wrap a bread tie around it , draw the bow a couple of times and simply slide it to the length you want the arrows to be. Then measure the distance from the throat of the nock to where you want them cut..........that's the length you want to order.

:)

Why guess?

I shoot a Drenlin set at 29" with a Dropzone and shoot Beman ICS Hunter 340's and mine are cut at 29".

Most arrow rests sit behind the arrow shelf, and because draw length is measured to the center of the shelf you're generally okay with using the same length arrow as your DL, but check and make sure first.

Arrowsare "Supposed" to be whatever you need them to be based upon your choice in rest combined with how that length and your desired tip weight will affect the arrow spine of the shafts you want to shoot. The length and the weight of your components as they relate to your bow are more important from a spine perspective than they are from an actual "right or wrong" length.
Even your choice in fletching and nock components have an effect on how long a desired shaft should be for your set up because they affect arrow spine from the opposite end.

More weight up front "softens" arrow spine, weight in the rear "stiffens" arrow spine.

How complicated ya wanna make this? LOL;):D

1. Decide what length you want based upon your actual bow and rest set-up (actually measure)
2. Decide what weight head you want to use, and style fletching
3. Decide what you want your finished arrow weight to be based upon how fast you want your bow to shoot
4. Choose the appropriate shaft that will be spined correctly for your bow and give you the finished arrow weight you want at that length and with those components

My DL is 29", but with a QAD Ultra rest (or a WB) I can get away with a little less than 28". Generally, however, I'm using arrow length as a tuning element. With Easton 400 series arrows, at 61 lbs, and with 100 grain heads; a 29" shaft gives me a perfect bare shaft tune.

If your sure it's 27, and that would be from the nock groove to the front edge of the riser (giveor take a few hairs)at full draw, you'd need a 27" arrow. It should keep any bh in front of your fingers. You can go as far back as the rest will allow, I don't.

I'd customize using any method similar to what Mat said though. Your paying to get them cut anyways. I have someone mark the arrow with a sharpie at where I tell them to do at full draw.

If your not sure your draw will stay the same, get them a little longer.

I like to measure my arrows close for obvious reasons. I shoot a 28" draw and my arrows are 27"

I agree finding the proper length for your arrows should be simple. Then you can build the arrow from there.
