Bloodcreek? Anyone??? Rage 125gr?
Didn't somebody have a link to a Rage head that was 125gr?
Just curious. |
RE: Bloodcreek? Anyone??? Rage 125gr?
:eek:I believe they were confused, but like you, I hope they prove me wrong.

RE: Bloodcreek? Anyone??? Rage 125gr?
exactly how heavy are you going to make your hunting arrow jeff?
|
RE: Bloodcreek? Anyone??? Rage 125gr?
500gr or more...
|
RE: Bloodcreek? Anyone??? Rage 125gr?
I remember someone posting that here, but I don't think they are making a 125 grain head.....I've not seen or heard about them.....We just got our first shipment of 2 blades in the other day.....
Are you going to be able to get that weight w/ ACC's? |
RE: Bloodcreek? Anyone??? Rage 125gr?
What is all the fuss around here about super heavy arrows? I am really curious about the motivation because all I can think is how far into the ground on the far side of the deer is far enough? I am not being negative, I am really interested in the response. Thanks.

RE: Bloodcreek? Anyone??? Rage 125gr?
i think the concept is just like a bullet, the heavier it is the harder it punches
|
RE: Bloodcreek? Anyone??? Rage 125gr?
I figured that, but I don't carry a .45 ACP or .45GAP because I know a serated hollow point 9mm or .40 is more than enough.;)

RE: Bloodcreek? Anyone??? Rage 125gr?
Well, looks like we're gonna hijack your thread, Jeff.....sorry bro, didn't intend to obviously....but, it happens I guess.....
I changed to a heavy arrow because; I needed/wanted a bigger diameter arrow for shooting 3D this summer. I also needed to get my speed down to around 280 to be "legal", and I knew that light carbons weren't gonna get that done. I shoot better at higher poundage, so I didn't want to turn my bow down to 62#'s to slow 'er down......Soooooo.......I made up some 2613 X7's....Pert near the same outside diameter as a line cutting carbon, and heavy enough to get my speed in the low 280's.....perfect. So I started shooting them, and was absolutely amazed at how well they shot, how hard they hit, and how quiet my bow was all the sudden. I also found that it didn't make THAT much difference in trajectory. Some, yes....but not nearly what I thought it would. VOILA. Ordered up a dozen big ole alum's for hunting. I've been shooting light/fast carbons fora few years now, at speeds well into the 3-teens......It ain't all it's cracked up to be, but until I shot big/heavy arrows at slow speeds I didn't even realize how much my shooting was suffering. It's kind of like watching your puppy grow up...You see him every day so you don't realize that he's getting bigger, until you suddenly one day pull out a picture of the day he came home.....You just get accustomed to it, and don't think anything about it. It becomes "normal".....Hell, it did for me. But once I started shooting them a couple weeks ago, I've been VERY happy, much more so than I have been. So, that's my logic behind it.....I'm sure others are different, but that's my story and I'm sticking to it. ;) |
RE: Bloodcreek? Anyone??? Rage 125gr?
I agree, quieter on the shot. Harder hitting for those less than perfect shots such as a shoulder shot. Fly just as well, if not better. Why not shoot heavy arrows?
My FMJs will be pushing 500 grains when i finish them off, which like mobow, will put me in the 270s or low 280s. |
RE: Bloodcreek? Anyone??? Rage 125gr?
I don't know much about this stuff, but my accuracy improved when I moved up from the 340 grain Beman's to the 400 grain Bemans...almost immediately.

RE: Bloodcreek? Anyone??? Rage 125gr?
also, with a heavy arrow you don't have to worry as much about wind drift while out hunting
|
RE: Bloodcreek? Anyone??? Rage 125gr?
unless they are finally making them this year, i dont think Rage ever made them in 125...
rocky mountain however DID make the snypers in 125gr....i found a 3 pack in a basement shop...not a 2" cut though...kinda kicking myself for not shooting my buck with them this year...i just cant get myself to use a mechanical even though they have an awesome track record...i dont know why...they shoot great and blow big holes in my foam and penetrate better than my muzzys....just my mindset.... |
RE: Bloodcreek? Anyone??? Rage 125gr?
I could have SWORE, I had seen a pack of 125 grain Rages (don't remember if it was 2 blade or 3 blade) atGander Mtn sometime last year.
Maybe I am wrong though. I have been wrong before and I'll be wrong again. |
