Your choice of binoculars?

In the market for a new set of binocs and was wondering what everyone is using and liking, brand, magnification, etc. Never had a huge use until I started elk hunting and now they are a must. I'd like to cap it at about $400. Mainly for typical whitetail woods but also open country glassing for elk.

Pentax dcf sp 10x43, awesome! for $500-600 you have glass that'll rival $1000 binos, by far the best value I've found in the bino market. Every review I've read of them everyone agrees, they're awesome. personally I compared them to zeiss, steiner, nikon, leupold, and others, they beat them all, cept the swarovskis maybe leica but again those were $1000+ they beat anything up to that point. I was initially thinking of the nikon monarch 10x42 I think they were, for like 300 350, and looked through them just didnt give me the clarity I wanted, which I though for 350 you'd be able to get something pretty nice, then I started looking in the 500-600 market and the pentax were far and above better than any zeiss, nice leupold, nikon I saw, steiner, seriously til I looked at glass around $1000 the pentax were beating everyone, so that's my recommendation. Under $500, I don't have a recommendation? but up to $1000 get pentax dcf sp 10x43, after a $1000, I'm not sure either.

I have my buddy's Leupold 10x42's right now. I'm using them for 3D. I knocked an eyepiece (don't ask me how???) off my Monarch ATB's 8x42's on my last deer hunt of the season. Nikon is fixing them for me, right now.

I can tell you.....for the difference in price......I sure wouldn't pay it.;)

I'd buy the Nikons 10 out of 10 times.

+1

I've really been impressed with their optics. I like their line of rifle scopesas well. I too have the Monarch ATB only in 10x42 as well as an older NikonBuckmasters in 10x21.5

I find that I grab the Buckmasters more oftenwhen I bow hunt as they as smaller and I can wearmyrange finder andbino's on the same harness without it being too bulky. I really don'tsee a discernible difference between the two in clarity either.

Leupold 8x42 Pinnacles.

I have needed their warranty 4 times since I began using their products. Each time they have repaired stuff that I damaged for free (to include a crushed objective lens on a scope).

This past year, I ordered the wrong scope rings and they replaced them for free.

They offer a 40% discount to military.

I would have to be carnival-freak crazy to buy anybody else's optics.
