Got my 1st Bow Yesterday

Welp i finally decided that Im a hunter and want to hunt with a bow....Bought an 07 Reflex Growler. Shoots fairly nice and is alot more compact and lighter than the others i chose to shoot yesterday...

Fairly basic setup as of the moment probaly start to upgrade things on the bow once it gets closer to hunting season...Any ideas of what kind of things i should upgrade???

Has True-Glo's basic 3pin sight, quiver and wisker arrow rest.

I have not bought broadheads yet and only bought sportsmans warehouses 400gram arrows...any ideas for these as well??

Thanx guys.

ORIGINAL: CarpetBagger

Has True-Glo's basic 3pin sight, quiver and wisker arrow rest.

As for upgrades on the quiver Trophy Ridge as a good quiver. If your going to shoot mechanicals, Vista as a neat quiver that opens up. As for a arrow rest the Limb Driver as got some good reviews. As for sight i like the Tru Glo that you already have.

Welcome to the site and to the passion that is Bowhunting, sounds like you have a decant setup, a three pin sight is just fine for hunting,I shoot 100 grain montecs and 340 grain beman arrows. Alot of guys will tell you to get a drop away rest but its all in what you like. I shoot a whisker biscuit and works great. I would say with it being your first hunting experance with a bow just have fun with it.

Welcome to bow hunting. You are already starting to sound like a seasoned bow hunter, talking about spending money and upgrading. I would hold up on upgrading anything right now until you really start shooting and decide what you like and don't like. Becareful making changes just before season, a bad time to find out cons of a product is when you are in the stand. As far as broadheads go, I would suggest you looking in Rage, they are amazing. Good luck, enjoy the sport, and I hope the bug bites you as hard as it bit me so many years ago.

Congrats!!!!!! To make your setup a little better, I reccomend more than 5 pins on your sight, use Easton or Beman Carbon arrows w/ the smaller fletching, and use no lower than 100 gr. broadheads that are expanable until you get real serious about archery hunting then get the mechanicals. But Be preparded to spend a lot of time tuning your arrows until you get them almost 100% fine tuned. One more thing make sure to have Limbsaver string leeches and limb dampeners to make your bow extremley quiet. Dont forget good stabilizers either. Well hope that I helped you out a little bit anyway.....

You picked a great hobby and an awsome place to go for freinds and advice! Welcome aboard my freind! As for an upgrade try adding a string suppressor! STS makes a nice one!
