Best 4-5 pin site under $100
I just spent an hour trying to change a broken fiber on my Tru Glo true site extreme. Ended up very frustrated and now have a break in a different pin.
Time for a new site that won't break the bank. Needs to be durable and the fibers need to be much more replaceable that the Tru glo.I shoot lefty and like the larger pin guard that Icover with the peep.Lights are OK but my experience with them is that theymake the pinstoo bright. If the fibers bight enough maybe the light is not needed. Was thinking of the Extreme RT900 (would have to flip it around as it doesn't come in lefty), a Sword Twilight hunter, and a Copper John Dead nuts 2. Recommendations please. |
RE: Best 4-5 pin site under $100
I have used the Copper John Dead Nuts for last couple of years and highly recommend them.

I just deleated my first response soo I'll make this short. Copper John Dead Nuts 5 pin is great. Very strong and affordable. I myself think the new dead nuts 2 looks sick , more fiber and a smaller site gaurd . I took1 pin of for a replacement for the future . These sites really can take a licking . good luck

I agree with above the CJ line is tough to beat and fits in any price range!

The sword line up of sights is simply amazing. Very well constructed, bright pins....I believe the Twilight Hunter even comes w/ a 3 phase light, just in case. I would get the .019's, but that's just me. I recently bought an Apex Micro 3rd Plane w/ .010's.....VERY impressed.

For hunting I like the line Impact has. For target, I just got the new Copper John Dead Nuts 2 Comp. It is a very nice sight, but it runs between $130 and $150.

RE: Best 4-5 pin site under $100
I really like my Black Gold Dusk Devil. Very straight forward sight, no spools of fiber to mess with. The Pins are plenty bright enough for me. If there is a down side to them it may be that the micro pins are .020. So if you need to go really small on the pins this may not work. Their warrenty is outstanding too-
From their site- Like every Black Gold bowsight, the Dusk Devil Ultimate is backed with a lifetime warranty. "If the original owner has a part break for any reason it will be repaired or replaced at no charge," states Mike Ellig, Black Gold president. My 2 cents |
RE: Best 4-5 pin site under $100
I use Tru Glo sights and they are pretty good. The 5 pin with the light on top are $35.

For the price range you are looking at take a look at the Copper Johns. They are a nice sight at a good price, but IMOnothing is as good as a Spot Hogg.

Another vote for the CJ's. They are great sights and the new design is very protective of the pins.

RE: Best 4-5 pin site under $100
I love my Spot Hogg.... but alas, it cost more than $100

TFOX, I would suspect they would change them out for you...but you can order them in whatever size you want from the start.
I'm not sure I've ever dealt w/ nicer people.....Top shelf company. We've ordered quite a few at the shop since I got mine....people just seem to like them I guess. |
RE: Best 4-5 pin site under $100
I was reffering to actually having a problem or wanting to change colors, they would probably take care of that too.
|
RE: Best 4-5 pin site under $100
Oh, yeah.... I knew that....[8D] And you're right, I'm sure that they would.

RE: Best 4-5 pin site under $100
I have found places to get the Copper John and Extreme sights but haven't found a place that sells Sword.
Where do you guys buy them? They don'tlist their dealers on their website |
RE: Best 4-5 pin site under $100
I like the Cobra's, but the Extreme RT1000 looks like a pretty nice site as well. Not a real fan of he Tru-Glo since I've had problems with a couple of them, and I thought the fibers were TOO fragile.

RE: Best 4-5 pin site under $100
They have an online dealer.....
http://www.sales.swordacu-site.com/ Or you could ask your local shop if they could get it for you.....For them to be a dealer, all they need to do is call and place an order...Those folks are really cool to deal with. |
RE: Best 4-5 pin site under $100
The Sword Twilight Hunter is a great sight. It has 2nd and 3rd axis adjustment. This is really a good thing whenshooting from a treestand. The pins are extremely bright, and the lighthas three settings. Quality of construction and materials is top-notch.Channy and Danny are great guys to deal with.

RE: Best 4-5 pin site under $100
First off thanks for the help.
Based on your responses and what I have found poking around on the internet this is what I am thinking: Extreme RT900: Easy to deal with when replacing the fibers but the fibers may break a little more often. Comes in right hand only (but so did my Tru Glo), not sure on the pin guardsize and I can get on for $50. The Sword Twilight: Has several nice features like an adjustable light, comes in lefty, has a 2 inch pin guard. Not sure on the ease of replacing the fibers or if they are fragile. About $95 bucks. Copper John DN 2 Hunter: Sounds durable, comes in lefty, and has a 1.72 inch pin guard. About $80Not sure how easy replacing the fibers is. Right now my peep covers my pin guard and I make sure I can't see the pin guard whenaiming. Will having a smaller pin guard be a big deal?If you have anyinfo on the underlined missing info please reply. |
