Lighter arrows Result

I was away for a few days and i posted about switching to lighter arrows and this is what my archery pro shop owner gave me that

Shot out of a30 inch draw and 70lbs that
a 488 grain arrow shot 76.2 kinetic energy
a 302 grain arrow shot 74.8 kinetic energy
i am not sure of the fps diffrence but i know in my bow i was useing the goldtip 3555 with 100 grain tip at a27.5 draw at 70lbs and shoting 313 fps and switched to the goldtip ultra lite and know i am shoting 386 fps that is much better for that longer shot if needed in my book.

386?????

what bow are you shooting?

HEHE YEAH? and also a 302 grain arrow at 70# is considered dryfire! You're supposed to shoot at least a 350 grain at 70#.

Not a problem with the high country

RE: Lighter arrows Result

oh ok well high country warranties some of their bow for 3 grains per lb right so sorry about that!

Well you sure as heck are getting a lot of speed outta that!!!

Wish mine would flick a stick that fast!

It seems crazy to me to but as long as they will take care of it if it breaks why not

RE: Lighter arrows Result

OK so let me get this straight you could shoot a 210 grain arrow out of that bow at 70 lbs right?! Imagine the speed you would get with that!! But the only thing is can you build arrows that light? If you could that would be awesome!

Ya i am kinda digging it even if its not a race it looks and sounds pretty impressive when you sling one at the techno hunt screens and everybody has to look in to see what the heck your shooting to make that loud pop but all of that dont matter if we dont place that broad head where we need it but at that speed i think next year a 60 yrd shot wont be a question.

what is the formula for calculating kinetic energy? i've never heard of 386 fps. are you sure? what kind of bow do you shoot?

RE: Lighter arrows Result

Not sure. It was printed a hunting magazine or archery mag that the shop had where i get my stuff i will find out and my bow is a high country iron mace my buddy is shooting won at 30 in draw and getting 403 fps i seen it on the chrono its crazy that is why i had to have this bow first time i ever bought a new bow but most of that reason is because i got a divorce and do what i want tonow

razor1, man no offense, but come on dude, let's be honest, do you realy think that is smart??

A 60 yard shot is just a "doable" at 260 fps as it is a 386 fps. Either require a rangefinder. Don't leave home without it.

"It seems crazy to me to but as long as they will take care of it if it breaks why not"

I would not want to be around a bow that broke during the shot.....I shoot within my bows limit of more than 340 grains as I am pulling near 70#.

RE: Lighter arrows Result

It's one thing to shoot an arrow that light at 70 poundsthat was built with the proper spine like their speed pro arrows.

It is another thing entirely to shoot an arrow spined for 45 pound bows like the Gold Tip 3555. SureHigh Countrywill warranty an Iron Mace down to 3 grains per pound but I doubt that Gold Tip or High Country is going to pay your medical bills when thatGT 3555snaps in half at the shot and goes straight through your wrist.

Don't be stupid man.

"313 fps and switched to the goldtip ultra lite and know i am shoting 386fps"

So you gained approximately 25 yards per second by switching down to a lower grain arrow?> That is a huge friggin difference...warp speed increase.
