Tempting buck

Glad I didn't see him during bow season, I might have been tempted to shoot. Would anyone else be tempted by him?

He needs a year or two. I would have been tempted to photograph him, though.
X2. had alot come by my stand around that size, and i didnt take the shot..this was my first year of bow hunting too. My brother and I set high standards and practice QDM. He hunted 3 years with out shooting anything and this year he layed the smack down on a 150 incher.

The only way I'd pass on him is if a bigger one was within 10 ft from him, 3 steps behind.

I'd be most glad if I hunted the same area you do!
That should be a dandy next year and even better the next!

If you see him next year and let him walk, you're a more patient man than I.

Good Luck!

Shooter...He's a giant where I'm from. I'm just now getting used to the antler restricitions in my home state of PA. You can be more selective now and see deer like that occasionally, but he'd be more than tempting. Like everyone else has said...next year!

He will be nice next year, but I would stilltake him.

In Jersey he'll do just fine.

I would take the shot ifone presented itself! That's very nice in my area...love that brow tine too!

Yep i'd shoot him

nice deer right decision to let him walk, will be a monster next year or 2.

kickin_buck 02-11-2008 11:18 AM

RE: Tempting buck

He looks good, but another year or two and he should have the mass to go along with his tine length. That is if somebody does not takehim sooner. It is hard to let bucks like that pass, but they will not get any bigger once they are in the back of a truck.

lead me not into temptation, you have to be strong ad let em walk and grow to be big boys.

I would of shot him without blinking, the area i hunt they RARELY get that big, and if i dident shoot him, someone else would of in a heart beat.

Looks like a fairly mature body which the QDM people would tell you he's only going to be an 8 point forever. Texas would take him out of the herd. I'd take him out too and he'd be the biggest deer within a square mile. LOL

Those brows are sweet! Good luck with him next year;)

RE: Tempting buck

I'd be tempted.. depending on his age structure and if I was on public or private.

Here's a kicker though.. notice the great difference between the left and right "brows". It should be pretty easy to identify his rubs.. I'd be all about scouting every rub I could find and trying to find an area he may be passing through often.. especially one that's near a good bedding area. Hang a stand and hunt his arse!
