I decided to try my hand at fletching

I went out and got my first fletching jig today (I went with the Bohning)
I used 2 1/4" Gateway feathers (I've been wanting tomake the switch from vanes to feathers)

This was my first attempt at this, but I think they turned out pretty good...Im pretty proud of myself;)

What do ya think?

Not too shabby! Looks like you did a pretty good job for a first attempt!

Let us know how you like those feathers, I know quite a few of us are interested in hearing about them.

I was thinking about buying that one or the one for $60 with magnets from Gander. How do you like it?

I would suggest using a green scotch brite pad over the fine sandpaper, but they look good. Nicely done. It's really not as difficult as most people think, but using the right amount of glue does take a bit of practice.

Looks good other than the excess glue. I use the Arizona EZ fletcher. It was cheap, but seems to be working pretty good as long as I make sure the vanes are pushed completely down in the slot before I let them touch the arrow.
