getting stronger

I just got my Diamond Edge bow. Its 40 pounds and i can only pull it back about 8 times before i have to rest. Is there any good ways to get the musles stronger that help me pull it back. I need some tricks. Im mostly skin and bones. I need a good way to get stronger. Any thoughts?

Have you tried lifting some weights? Focus on the upper body/arms and back muscles. Do a lot of reps with lower amounts of weight rather than trying to lift large amounts of weight. Also - as time passes and you keep shooting you'll get stronger.;)

Go Slow!! You can build your muscles by shooting, but don't over do it. Even lower the bow poundage at first. You can then increase a pound or 2 every coupleof weeks. Remembertorn muscles heal slow;)

dont worry buddy, at least you didnt embarass yourself at the bow shop like i did when i was pickin out my first bow..i was 17 and the first bow they handed me was 70#..barely got it back. Then i tried a different bow and couldnt get it.. because my shoulders were strained and i had never used those muscle before my brother had to pull the bow back for me so i could try it out..it was so embarassing! i felt like a little pansy haha. Its not like i was that weak either i could bench a pretty good amount but since i never used those muscle before it was hard to pull back. Now i shoot around 67#-70# easily. Its all about good form and muscle memory and you'll be good to go.

Pulling back a bow is more muscle memory than brute strength. it will come.
