I need a guess!!!
I have no idea how much my arrows weigh. Guy at the shop where I bought the bow said they were close to the minimum for 73# pull on this bow (X Force). I shoot the Pro Series 200X Weave Radials. They are 27" long with 2" blazer veins and a 90 gr tip. Any guesses on this?? 325 gr 400 gr??? Help me figure this out, I have no way of weighing them!!

RE: I need a guess!!!
Doesn't the archery shop have a scale? If you shoot 3 D some clubs may have a scale and weigh it for you.
Do you have a buddy who might have a reloading scale? I weigh all my components and assemble my arrows to be certain they are within 3 grains of each other when complete. Easton Archery was a web site which gives shaft weights and information on their products. |
RE: I need a guess!!!
I asked him and he just they are close....what a guy!!! I ain't going down that road tonight, we already had a thread on archery shop hospitality, or lack there of. I don't have anyway of weighing them. I just need to know if they are heavy enough to shoot out of this bow at this # pull weight, I shot them all last year with no problems, yet... I was wondering if they are in 350-400 gr range

RE: I need a guess!!!
Blazer vanes = 6 grains each
insert = maybe 15 grains +/- a couple nock = 8 grains +/- tip = 90 grains So now take your arrow's grains per inch and multiply by 27 |
RE: I need a guess!!!
I'm far from an expert.....but at 73#'s I'd be shooting 400's. I shot 300's out of my 64# setup.
|
RE: I need a guess!!!
The lower number (200) usually means a stiffer spine (less deflection when weight is applied)which would be right for 70+ pounds but I am not familiar with X weave radials and they may number their arrows differently.
|
RE: I need a guess!!!
X-Forces are rated down to 4gpp.
I'd say with a 200 you are around 330gr, I'd bet that's close. |
RE: I need a guess!!!
I shot radial x-weaves for 2 years. My son shot 200's out of his 60# setup (what our shop recommended). He shoots 300's, now....out of his 64# setup.

RE: I need a guess!!!
Thanks guys, Im trying to figure the numbers now, shop owner told me it was close but ok, but is that going to cover me under warranty when the limbs blow???!! if 350 gr is the minimum, and Im shooting somewhere around 330 gr, Im suprised it hasn't blow up in my face yet!! Now I did buy some 300 pro series X weaves on sat. so maybe that will help, but all last year I shot the 200 series. I hope I haven't screwed up my bow...

RE: I need a guess!!!
Vabow~~~ How would anyone ever know what size arrow you are shooting if say the limbs do decide to blow apart?? If this would happen I would take my bow along with a set of heavy arrows to the shop with me and say I dont know what happened
???I am sure I wouldnt be the only one to do this?? |

RE: I need a guess!!!
Good Point!! I think though once you get down that low to begin with anything can happen???
|
RE: I need a guess!!!
These are the arrows he gave me to shoot with the bow, the only thing I changed was the tip, I went from a 100 gr to a 90 gr, which he told me was fine.. Im just a little concerned after reading a few posts on here about correct arrow weight. How can I weigh these arrows and what is the right weight for 73# pull??
|
RE: I need a guess!!!
You could shoot anything from 365gr or so "up" and likely be fine.
What I'd worry about is the arrow spine. I'm not sure....but I think you might be underspined. |
RE: I need a guess!!!
very well possible, Im not an expert on this, I just took his advice and ran with it. I mean shouldn't he know?? He is the one that is certified... but after talking to him and he said your close, I mean it kinda of screwed with me

RE: I need a guess!!!
VA I have NO IDEA of your knowledge when it comes to the technical aspects of bowhunting. I've found for myself that a little too much spine is better than the alternative. A heavier arrow is better than the alternative.
My hunting arrow is both overspined and heavy. For the shots I shoot, though....I don't find these things to be a detriment. |
RE: I need a guess!!!
well I did go to a heavier arrow with this dozen, one size bigger, hope it is ok and i hope I didn't do damage to the bow last year.
|
RE: I need a guess!!!
VA, don't you work at a school? Check in the Science area, there must be a scale there you can weight the arrow on. See how many grams it weighs and let me know. I can do a conversion to grains and get very close.

I will see, thanks bud!

For $20 this scale works great for me...no guessing |
RE: I need a guess!!!
pse chart
http://www.pse-archery.com/cat.php?k=52357 there is a link on this page to it. at 27draw and 70lbs you are shooting the wronge arrow. last year i had a local dealer trying to sell some 200's for my buddies xforce. it was way under spined for 29 @70lbs. he even stated he could paper tune them.we took him up on his offer and watched him fail at it. but i can tell you one thing. 29 @70 with those arrows we did chrono it at 348. but that was dangerous and stupid. but i wasn't doing the shooting:D |
RE: I need a guess!!!
Wv, I shot the 200's last season the whole season and never had any problems as far it blowing up in face!! I moved up to the 300's do you think that will be ok?
|
RE: I need a guess!!!
330
|
RE: I need a guess!!!
They were actually 24" long!! and weighed 309!!!!!!!!!!
|
RE: I need a guess!!!
NO WONDER YOU WERE HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THAT BOW
|
RE: I need a guess!!!
For real!!! I mean I have heavier arrows and a string tamer now and it's like a whole different bow. groups are far better now, and Im still shooting in the 290's!!
