Well, been working all week with the dog around the house and out in the yard, trying to teach him how to find sheds.

Initial impressions, we got a lot of work ahead of us

He will find the sheds in the house and with a bit of work, outside also. However, once we get out in the woods, well, it is alot more fun to run around and all thoughts of trying to find a shed go out his head. I brought along a small shed to so he could find something while we were out in the woods, but even with placing the antler very close to me, he could care less, he even stepped on it once......

Nonetheless, after about 3 hours, I found two and my dad found one.

Now this is not the end of the story, I had to leave the woods and go home to watch the boys, (wife had a jewelry party to attend) but my father got to stay out in the woods for another 2-3 hours. He managed to scrounge up three more horns, one was even within about 20 yards of where I had walked earlier. I probably would have stumbled across it but he had called me over on the radio to take a look at the half of a 6 pointer he had found........I think he is not liking that I have a 7 horn advantage on him so far this year....

What is kinda cool about the two 5 pointers he found is that they are probably the other sides of two of the sheds we found last weekend (one of the sheds was found at least 400 yards away from the first side we found)

Nice sheds!!

Ive been practicing with my dog on finding sheds too. She finds them around the house and in the back yard. Her first time in the woods will be this week. I hope she keeps it up.
