ORIGINAL: GMMAT
I cn tell you how many deer I've seen.......how many were bucks/does.......and since I've only been hunting deer for 2+ seasons.....the numbers taken are pretty simple.
14 whitetails....all via archry tackle.
8 does
5 bucks (two 8-pointers; one 7-pointer; one 6 pointer; one 5-pointer)
1 BB (piebald)
All deer taken right here in NC.
Last year was my first to try hunting turkeys with archery tackle....and I took a gobbler on my 25th hunt of the season.

I'm not sure how many deer I've taken ....30? ...28? ....32? ... somewhere in that area .... as far as record keeping ..... I never have ...... I would love to know the conditions and circumstances and be able to graph them ......

I have been hunting 33 years now and I am starting to lose track. I used to be able to look at pics and tell you when and where. Quite a few years ago I started letting younger deer walk. I am much prouder of the number that I have let go. My best guess would be around 65-70. check out the pics of my bigger ones and pics of the hand scribed log cabin I built @www.geocities.com/magicman54494 I am in the process of getting all of my pics scanned and labled before I totally forget.

Since I started to seriously hunt, I have taken four deer.
2 - bucks
2- does
All with shotgun so far.
My two bucks I killed on opening day of first shotgun season here in IL. (2005, 2006)
This year, I killed a doe on the opening day of a special CWD/Late Season hunt here in my home county of IL.
Other than that, I can vaguely tell you what I saw each dayand the wind direction for some of my hunts.

Does anyone have an example of the specific log sheet they use or do you just write down general notes in a journal. Or is it a computor program? I've been thinking of doing this but I am too anal to just throw notes in a notebook. Organization rules my life...kind of a curse!

The only record I keep is my photo album and I only take pictures of events I know I will look back on and smile at when I am 80. Honestly, does I shoot for meat really aren't that exciting, I have no idea how many I have shot, and I don't really care.I even have a bunch of pictures from huning tripswhere I came home with tag soup. It is only the memories I care about, not numbers.

Yes, I keep a log, broken down by buck / doe / weapon and grand total. Button bucks don't count as bucks! My grand total is roughly 70, about 20 bow kills, about 30 total buck kills, about 10 of those with bow. A half dozen of my gun kills have been in the 100" class, nothing bigger. Yet.
