75 gr Muzzy
 

Has anyone had any experience with the 75 grain Muzzy broadheads?
I currently shoot Thunderhead 100's. (shooting 63lbs at 29" draw)

You should consider FOC (Front of Center) balance of your arrow. You can certainly go too light and change your spine of the shaft just as sure as you can go too heavy. If your considering dropping broadhead weight just to pick up a few feet per second of speed, well, your crazy...simply put the difference cannot be picked up in accuracy....keeping correct spine is more important. If your thinking of swaying from Thunderheads, your better off with 100 grain Muzzy or at a minimal, 90 grain Muzzys.

Not with the 75 grn, but I shoot the 100 grn. I think it will perform the same as the 100 grn, but it depends on your arrow set up.

I have not shot or tried them, but as a rule every Muzzy head I have tested has been excellent. I do agree with Rob however. If the 75 grn heads provide better accuracy that's one thing, but don't switch just to get a little more speed, the trade off may not be worth it.

I have used the 75 grain muzzy on some carbon express 400 3d shafts. They wre actually about the only head that I tried that grouped well for me with the shafts. My bow was shooting about 290 fps at 70 pounds and 33&quot; draw. I shot two deer with them that year. One was a quartering away shot at 35 yards. BTW it was the longest shot I have ever taken at a deer, and I will never take it again. I was in the process of releasing, past the point of no return, when the deer took a step. To make a long story short, I hit the deer through the liver and one lung. Complete pass threw though. I waited four hours before recovering the deer. Just goes to show that speed isn't everything some people make it out to be. The other deer was only at 10 yards and was a double lung pass threw. Since then however I have switched back to my old setup with aluminums (2613) and heavy broadheads.

The head did preform well.

Thanks for the info. Your probably right about being careful with the FOC weight. More than likely stay with my Thunderhead 100's. They have always done a great job before.

I started the season with the Muzzy 90 grain four blade then switched to the 100 grain three blade. They are about the sme and the same practice blades are used for both! I penetrated a spine bone, almost completely through with the four blade! It is on the muzzy site! A another inch and it would have went completely through the bone! I will never use anything but Muzzy!
