shooting from a stool (turkey hunters)??

Just curious, do most of you when shooting from a stool/camp chair,in a blind, prefer to shoot with knees forward and shoot from your side like when standing, or point knees toward target and shoot with bow between the legs?? I have tried both and dont get much difference either way. how about you?? does it affect your shooting??

I practiced my ass off from a seated position the whole preseason.......and the kill shot I made was from a knee......something I'd never envisioned.

I'll practice a LOT more out of the blind, this year.

knees 90* to the target, just like I were standing. Sometimes you have to shoot while kneeling as well. It's awefully difficult, and uncomfortable, to shoot w/ your knees pointed at the target. It's like your facing it straight on....

Jeff,i never even thought about having to shoot from a knee, ill have to practice that ;)

Mobow my man, I can see where having to hold for a period of time shooting from between the knees would be a problem. to be honest with ya, when i shot my bird last year, i cant remember what position i was in other than seated :eek:i

If you practice all the shooting, it's a stronger base when your on one knee rather than two. It's great to practice it all because you never know what position the birds catch you in. Also practice out of the blind, I know alot of guys who have shot the blind itself! Not mentioning any names.;)

OK....that was me:eek::D.

Seriously.....I practiced out of my tripod stool until I was blue in the face. Then.......bird comes in from my right....and stays there. I get out of my stool and raise the blind up(matrix widow) a bit more to get a shot off......and now I can't shoot from the stool. I shoot off one knee.

HOW DID I MISS A CHIP SHOT????

OK....I shot the blind.:D Let's regroup......

This debacle story ended really well (for me....not the bird).

I've done this dropping my Right Knee down and back, almost as if dropping to one knee, mostly to get it out of the way. I've shot a few deer from my knees, hunkered down in brush, or against a tree, but not turkeys, but it's the same concept. Shooting from a stool is a little different, but by dropping that knee down and out of the way, it gets me into position. I've practiced this way, because some of my set-ups I'd sit on a stool for deer hunting as well.

LOL Jeff, actually I forgot about that one, your not the only one and there were a few others I was thinking about.

It's great you shared that tho, it can happen to anyone, we all need to practice out of a blind. There are a pile of blinds out there with broadhead holes through them. I've watched it on TV too.

I, as well, put the left knee in the dirt. Feels more comfortable and for me I have more control.

This sounds like what I do as well. Drop my right knee down and back and keep my left knee 90 degrees to the target. Those little chairs are about the right height that my right knee is touchingthe ground.

I have yet to shoot a whole, or even put a nick, in a blind with a broadhead. BUT I've seen it done twice. Those gobbler guillitines got quite a spread that seem to reach out and grab things asthey leave a blind!

I set my chair in the back of the blind. All I do is lean forward onto my knees to shoot.

That wouldn't be good if you were caught with your pants down taking a #2 on your stool!!;) Its the 1st thing that came to mind Dan, I had to say it.:D (Stool=Toilet) If you would of just said chair It wouldn't of even crossed my mind. Just screwing with ya Dan!!!
