Hm, in my current financial situation, I'd sell it, but part of teh deal would be that they pay for a re-creation of the mount.
That would be my play, also. What a rack.

A 9 year old in Oklahoma bagged a 41 point buck!

IF YOU WILL NOTICE IN THE PICTURES, THERE IS ELECTRIC FENCING WIRE ALL IN HIS HORNS. THAT WIRE HAD MYSTERIOUSLY WENT MISSING FROM his PAPA'S BLACK-EYED PEA PATCH.Supposively Cabelas has offered $150,000 for the deer.

One heck of a buck!

Thats the e-mail I received...Very nice...I'm with most of you guys...take the $150 with a remake...Wow

Another vote for selling it for the $150,000, but I would have it in the deal to have them pay for a duplicate.

That buck was taken in the great state of Oklahoma:):)

The story is true about the kid's grandpa letting him shoot it. The buck kept getting in his pea patch so he wanted it gone[8D].....go figure.

I don't know anything about money being offered for the mount.

Cool buck. 150,000.00 for the buck, thats what makes poaching big business.IMO[:@]I'd rather see a happy hunter behind a button buck,at least you could assume it was fair chase.

I am pretty sure there was an article in NAW about this. The issue where there are several stories of kids killing big deer. Maybe 6 months ago, and the deer was killed on his grandfathers farm. They could not figure out where the electric fence went until the day the boy killed the deer. I will look for the issue.

Gotta love a monster Okie buck. Although I am not native here, I will admit it is a great state for hunting whitetails.

Thats a great deer. Id sell it, money talks you know. I wish I had listened to my step-grandma when she said she had a big deer tearing up her apple trees and that I could come stay the weekend and bowhunt him. [:@]:([:'(]Ive told the story here before. I didnt want to drive the 2 1/2 hrs to hunt cuz as I put it to my stepdad that relayed the message "he cant be that big." Ashort timelater the world saw the deer known as "the louvstein buck" and my g/f gave me a polite smack on the head to applaud my intelligence.

I would let them take the rack to make a replica of it and keep the real thing even if it was free...But wow what a buck.

Yikes! I need to plant me a pea patch in my yard. I was reading in a bowhunting magazine before season this past year of a huge buck killed out of a pea patch with a muzzleloader from the 2007 season. Monster bucks must be drawn to the pea patch like a magnet.

RE: 41 point buck

This has been around a time or two. I highly doubt anyone offered him 150K for it. Personaly I'd work out something if someone did and it was mine, but I highly doubt it.

Cabellas is rumored to have offered the guy that killed the big piebald buck 13K for his buck. This was found to be untrue. I'm thinking a full body mount of a BIG piebald is rarer than this buck.

Cool buck...neat story....but don't plan on getting rich if you kill a big buck!

RE: 41 point buck

The kids name is Baylor and they did not offer $150k for it. He didnt even sell the rack! I met him last year at a hunting show and he was a funny little kid. The deer scored 224 or 228, i dont remember but it was a heck of a buck. As funny as it sounds, this kid was actually hunting this particular buck and ended up killing him! Lucky or not this kid is really going to be something in the hunting woods if this buck didnt spoil him!

RE: 41 point buck

Your typical, well circulated, yet totally inaccurate web story! lol !The pix have circulated arond the net for the past 2 years and claim it's been taken in about 6 different states. Last time I heard it was a buck from OK.

It's a good buck, no doubt..... but man do the math on it's size.... it'smost CERTAINLY NOT a rack worth 150K to Cabela's or anyone for that matter! Thats more than what BPS paid for the (Albia) WR buck that carries about 100" more of antler!!! I always love the unbelievably inflated values on racks these days! I know several antler buyers and I assure you.... they just don't bring that kind of cash. A B&C minimum usually generates around $2K and we go up slowly from there. It would be very, very rare for ANY wild whitetail to bring more than $25K for it's antlers unless that deer was World Record status. Wishful thinkin' [:-]:D

Ithought anyone who reads this should know I emailed the person in charge of buying taxidermy mounts at Cabela’s and his response was THIS:
Hello,
No! Cabela’s Inc has not offered any money to a boy in Oklahoma! Oklahoma has a state law that prohibits the sale of wildlife or their parts. It’s illegal for him to offer it or for anyone to offer money for it.
