My first time bowhunting was this past fall. I got a fat Wisconsin doe in October, good eating (and good luck, only in my climbing stand 45 mins. that afternoon). This fall my wife wants to go with me. (I'm glad I married her) My question: What is a good arrow weight/setup for a 40# bow? Is @ 300 grains total too light for whitetail? Any advice/experiences you might be able to relate regards hunting with a 40# setup is greatly appreciated.

You can look at the Beman ICS Hunter Junior. They are the best arrows I have found for bows up to 40#. Try to get a 75 grain cut on contact broadhead to maximize penetration. In my opinion at such a low poundage you really cant goheavy, otherwise 1 or 2 yards misjudged at 20 yards will be a big miss or wound.
