Default The Next Typical World Record?

Will the next typical world record fall this next season and will it come from IL?

I met a guy today at a local sport show that says that is exactly what will happen. He said, and I know this guy enough to respect what he says, that he has the next world record on his properties in IL. He promises that if he downs this deer this year, it will measure 230" typical. PROMISES. He said his dad missed it a year ago and said it would have surpased Milo Hanson's buck and he had it at 10 yards this past season without a buck tag. He was out doe hunting and this buck came to 10 yards.

Swears it's 30" wide and carries symetrical 16-18" tines and mass out to the tips. I said to him, I pray that you do down him and it does make world!

I saw pics of last years buck, 170"s....gorgeous and held a pair of matched sheds that would surpass Frank's (Kidd642). I could not get my hands around the bases of this buck.

So, will the new world record fall this year to an IL'n?

Do you think the new world record is out there on the hoof?

You know Rob, I was thinking about that too. Just this past fall a buck was found dead in a river not an hour and a half from where I live....Died of natural causes, and I forget the score but he broke the world record by several inches.....It's gotta happen sometime.

No, no where near and I freakin wish!

And that prompts another question, would you want to shoot it and all the "disease" that surround shooting such a buck?

If I were lucky enough to down a potential world record here is a list of things I would do.

1. Look at but NOT TOUCH said animal.
2. Call someone to come gaurd the animal, no weapon.
3. Call a state DNR, Game official, warden etc to come see the animal.
4. Tag the animal in front of said person, to this point I did not touch said animal.
5. Backtrack the blood trail to my treestand and show said warden, DNR officer etc.
6. NOT TELL A SOLE until after the drying period
7. Have it officially scored under strict supervision.
8. Document everything from start to finish.

Do you think it would be more a curse than honor?

Yes

Don't take this wrong... But I hope not... The way world records have fallen over the pastsome odd years or so is kind of alarming...... Almost cheapens the accomplishment.... IMO

Hanson buck.... world record typical
Bryant buck.... world record X-bow non typical
Beatty buck.... p&y world record non typical
Albia buck.... world record non typical
Jerman buck.... world record x-bow typical
The "almost" Zaft buck.....
The "Rompola" buck..... <--- No comments on that one guys, it is beaten to death...

Who am I missing????

I Dunno

I absolutely do ...... With deer management like it is today and the way it seems to be going, I believe we will see the record broken a few times in the next decade ...

Oh yeah he's out there. Will he fall, legally next year? Unlikely.

As a side note I heard today (or my wife did actually) that the land I got permission to hunt in the late summer, and then inexplicably lost permission before setting foot on the property, holds a Giant!

She was talking to a local Cop who hunts there, and she said I hunt near there,
He asked if I had gotten "his" buck. I guess he has 3 cameras up and has chased this certain deer for 2 years. He might be the one the locals have been telling me about. I've never seen him and actually kinda doubted his existance till today.

I only hunt a small farm that borders the property and the crop rotation this year made it hard to hunt!
