need opinions on rocket sidewinder
 

I wanted to get a few opinions on these heads before I order them.
I'm goin to use them for turkey, and deer. I want a broadhead that will do the job on both deer and turkey. In other words, I don't want to have to buy 2 different size heads.
I'll use the sidewinder on my G/E splitfire set-up for turkey huntin, and use it on my darton for deer huntin.
I don't want a 2" head, I want to stay with a 1 1/2" cut, which I think will be plenty wide for turkey, and not to wide to get good penetration on deer.
what do ya'll think about the sidewinder for this job?
or is there another 1 1/2" head that ya'll think would be better?

Bo, didn't you harvest your deer last fall with a
Rocket Steelhead? I thought I remembered you being
pretty impressed with how it performed or maybe I'm
thinking of someone else? Anyhow, even though the
cut is only 1 1/8" you could put a adder/arrow
stopper behind the head with turkeys. I also like
the fact,without the adder/arrow stopper, they can
be shot through netting with no effect on arrow
flight (I use netting during late season to keep
the skeeters out<img src=icon_smile_approve.gif border=0 align=middle>).

If you're set on using the same expandable for deer
and turkey I'd take a look at NAP Spitfires. They
have a 1 1/2&quot; cut with razor sharp blades and I've
seen them do a great job on quite a few deer and
turkeys. This is my choice for turkeys, but the
large cut is more than I prefer to use on whitetails
and mule deer.

i have used both the three and four blade models religiously for the past 2 yrs.they leave one heck of a hole!only trouble is that every deer shot the entire ferrule was bent.not really bad but enough that you couldn't use it anymore.that's not a problem as long as they do the job,but last year i shot a big buck(about 230 on the hoof)and i hit him high and directly in the shoulder bone.the sidewinder4 only went in about 2-3 inches before shearing off at the base of the shaft.what it looked like to me was that b/c there were 4 blades they had to take out more material to make the groove that the blades rest in.i did get that deer with a quick follow-up shot but once bit,twice shy.so i went back to the nap shockwave.never had a problem with those.not as big a cut as i like but very dependable.

The sidewinders are a very good head. They fly great, open quick, and are fairly durable. As long as you have enough Ke for deer they will work great, and they are also an excellent choice for turkey.

I have friends that shoot them and love'um .I still like NAP Spitfires 3blade 100(1.5&quot;cut) better...They are definately sharper(out of the pkg),no o-rings ,and very tuff.

Two Beards, I was impressed with the steelheads. took three deer with them, 2 were complete passthroughs. the other one would have been, it was just the angle of the shot. I just don't like using anything behind the broadhead. I tried them star shaped deals a few years ago, and couldn't shoot straight behond 15yds.

I just want a larger cut broadhead, that I can use for turkey, but still be small enough for a pass through on deer.
my darton shoots about 276 fps, and has sufficent K/E for that punch needed on deer.

and I can use the same head for turkey. won't have to worry about usin 2 different heads, or have to worry about adding on extras for turkey.

I just wanted to make sure the sidewinder was a good head before I ordered them. thanks for the info guys!

ps- I would go with the splitfires, but their to dang proud of them thangs<img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>
