Gold Tip Users... Question...
 

I shoot GT Expedition 5575, If i switch to the GT XT Hunter 5575... What kind of differences will i be looking at as far as:

1. No adjustments made to my bow
2. Grouping
3. Anything else...

I have been using the GT 5575XT arrows for a few years and really like them. Last year I mistakenly ordered the expedition shafts and decided to use them. I set them up indetically to my other arrows but when I shoot them the goup isabout 1 1/2" high at 20 yards. I checked the specs and they are supposed to be the same weight, ect but they fly a little different. I don't know why. I tried re-fletching them and even switched out the practice heads but they still group higher. If you don't mix the two you will be OK

You likely wouldn't see any differences. The only differences is that the arrows are sorted into bunches of closer tolerances

So is it worth the extra money for the xt's?

I shoot the Xts and before I ordered my new dozen, I asked on here and on other boards if I would notice a differentce going form the XT to the ProHunter and they said unless I am really into 3D and target archery I would not notice a difference, so I saved the $. Its probably the same for your case, wouldnt notice a difference between the XT and the expedition hunting wise. I started with Xts and have stuck with them.

As long as you don't have any "flyer" shafts mixed in that are out of whack for weight or spine, as long as you cut a dozen Expiditions equally front and back to remove the slop you can get finished shafts that should spec out pretty close to XT's
Same with XT's vs Pro's, and to get the most from your Pro's do the same thing.

Never take your all carbon shafts from any manufacturer and install your inserts and simply cut from the back end, your shortchanging yourself of the best part of the blank.

Thanks Matt. ive heard this but the people at my bow shop said it wouldnt make any difference, this time ill be sure that he does it;)

It most certainly does make a difference, and hey if he doesn't want to take your word for it have him call Tim Gillingham from Gold Tip (who also happens to be probably the best male Pro archer in the world right now) and ask him if he advocates cutting shafts from both ends.
