Drop away VS Prong Rest
 

Well I have been shooting league with an old TM hunter Stlye rest. Golden Premier is what i am using.

360 is perfect
I shot 348, which is about my average.

I love my ultra rest, but its no better thanprong stlye rest for accuracy IMO. The reason I will still use the UltraRest is how quiet it is when drawing back a bow.

I think the "Its more forgiving" is BS.

Anybody else try a test like this?

Your right. The old TM style rest is a good one.I used them for years with out a issue.But you know how it goes,gotta keep up with the times ???:eek:

I am still using my TM. I also can not put a Drop away because of the over draw on my Hoyt.

Drop a ways help with fletching clearance and that is about it. Everything else is hype when you compare it to another rest that is set up properly.

My personal favorite right now is a bodoodle that I have, then would be my platinum premiere that is on my girlfriends target bow.

I have been saying this for years though.

I concur Paul. Drop aways allow you to get away with helicals and hard offsets that might otherwise make fletch contact on prong style rests.

In my competitive 3D years I only used Bodoodle Pro 500 and Pro Lite's. I'm still missing these rests. I let the last one go on the Hoyt I sold a couple years ago to a very good friend for a steal. I told him, if he ever sells the bow, I want the rest back!

Anyway, my point is, in those days I turned in scores that a dropaway would not increase or impact in any way.

Drop aways are more of a hunting tool for big fletcings more so than the smaller fletch one can get away with for 3D.

The ONLY advantage to a fallaway is clearance for helical and small diameter arrows,the rest is bs as you say.

A prong style is probably a little more forgiving if you want to get technical about it.Most fallaways drop from contact with the shaft to soonbut the arrow is still attached to the string,this is an unforgiving situation.The arrow needs as much guidance from the rest as possibe.

No the WB isn't the answer,it still has contact with the arrow AFTER the arrow leaves the string.


Look at what is on MOST pro'sbows in vegas or any big shoot,they are not fallaways,they are mostly spring steel rest of some sort.;)

Can I ask those in the know why a prong(spring) rest is more accurate?

Spring steel restare not prong rest and the reason they are more forgiving is because they give more guidance.

And it does that while still being "soft" if that makes sense.:eek:
