bowtech boys

have any of you heard any problems w/ the 08 general, mine so far has been great so far except the draw mod screws come loose every 20 shots, 2 actualy fall completely out and the other 4 are ready to fall out, talked to my local pro shop today and he said he never heard of any problems but was gonna call me back but i still havent heard from him...
any input would be helpful thanks.....

I dont have a general but you might want to put some locktite on the screws...not sure if that would help...

I've seen quite a few issues pop up on different boards...It's all second hand info but there were enough of them that it weighed heavily in my decision to not buy a new General this year.

I think you will find a huge percentage of General owners have the same problems I've had. None!:D

I have not any problems with mine nor have I heard of any. I just talked to a couple dealers yesterday. A little Blue loctite will keep your mod screws tight. Loose mod screws can happen on any Bow;)

You may also "find" a lot less problems if you get that bow for free... I know I would have nothing but praise. But thanks for your reviewMeanV ;)

This is the first I've heard of a problem like this. We had several Generals in and the only problem we found was with on particular bow and a missing shim. I'd put a little loctite on the threads and call 'er good.

If I'm not mistaken.....my bow shop loc-tites all the screws on the bows when they arrive. I may be wrong about this.....but I see them doing it all the time on new bows, it seems.

No problems with my General in fact I changed the draw stop position when I changed draw length modules and it stays put. Small issue that can be remedied quickly.

Most of what I've read is second hand or from those holding another bow wishing to bash, and it ALL usually starts on AT.

Roger that! And they do. We encounter it on some of the Hoyts we sell, especially straight from the factory. I dunno, maybe they just don't tighten them very well, or maybe they are shaken loose during shipment, but for whatever reason, they are loose. BUT, after we tighten them, problem goes away. Every 20 shots or so seems excessive....

LOCTITE!! works well I would assume you rpro shop would loctite all screws. If not they should!

As corporate staff I check with dealers in the area and they will relay any problems they are seeing. The one I hear most is We can't get enough Bows. If I knew of a problem in my area or had one myself I would let you know, rest assured. If you wanna call me a Liar no use in hinting or Beatin around the bush.
If you call me a Liar which is what you are hinting at, then back it up with some facts!

Like I said No problems I am experiencing or hearing of in my area.;)

A small rubber O ring might help as well. It works like a lockwasher but not abrasive and won't sacrific screw length too much. I would of thought that they would have had break away Loctite as welllike everyone was saying.

Wow Sorry Dan, didn't realize you were so sensitive.. Never did I call you a liar...and I wouldn't (without knowing you).

I'm sure the Firestone Staff never "heard" of problems either. I get the "knowing" where your bread is buttered..mentality. I'm a business man too!

GRatta2d, You sure hinted I was not telling the whole truth. Sorry if I jumped to conclusions and thought you were calling me a Liar. I am not that sensitive;)I have shot Bowtech since 03 and have been on staff barely over a year. I never had problems prestaff days and I still don't.

I butter my Own Bread if you need to know[8D]

And I've shot them since 05...and I want a General...I just want them to be one the market for a year first.

It's a big investment for me.

Peace Bro! :)

String wax will work on those screws too. I use it on most everything that may come loose on my bow.

RE: bowtech boys

I haven't had a chance to read through the owner's manuals for the '08 lineup yet,but last year it plainly stated to loc-tite the mod screws in before shooting the bow.

Matt / PA 01-17-2008 08:09 AM

RE: bowtech boys

They will never loc-tite the screws from the factory because the dealer/end user need the ability and ease to adjust the draw length to whatever the customer needs........then when the proper fit is made and the correct modules installed a little shot of blue loc-titewill keepthem from moving.

I had the same exact thing happen with the mods on a bow (not a Bowtech) and it was fixed by some blue LocTite. The problem was not known on the bow I had it happen with either. Sometimes things just happen.
