RE: Do you think he could have done it?
That's awesome.
But I bet someone will tell you that a spike could do that. I know that's what I've been told, even with the height. [&:] |
RE: Do you think he could have done it?
Look like a spike did that.;)

who knows, but yeah he could have dont it.....but to me the bucks brow tines in the pic look wider than the marks on the tree

RE: Do you think he could have done it?
It's definately a possibility! It'sgood to see him around...
|
RE: Do you think he could have done it?
He's big enough, but we will never know for sure :D. Do know, with another season behind him, he is going to be a good one next season ;).

RE: Do you think he could have done it?
Wow. A big guy for sure. Its obvious it was made by a single deers brow tines, a big deer.
|
RE: Do you think he could have done it?
I don't know if he did it or not, but MAN that is one nice buck!
|
RE: Do you think he could have done it?
Great buck and very impressive rub.
My first guess would be that a larger buck made that rub....but after looking at the pic, it seems the brow tines match up perfectly. Lookin damn good either way.;) |
RE: Do you think he could have done it?
You should know by now that there no spikes in my area. That deer is a classic representation of the 1 1/2s in my area! |

RE: Do you think he could have done it?
Deer often rub with their head tilted at an angle, not straight on. While brows often leave the marks on smaller trees,I doubt it's the brows alonethat made those scars on the rub in question.
While the buck you pictured could have made that rub, it's much more fun to assume it was a much, much bigger deer!;)Nice pics. |
RE: Do you think he could have done it?
That buck in that pick would only be .25 years old here in Virginia :)
Greg, I hunt a fairly heavily hunted area. I have in the past 2-3 years found a remote area that I have never seen anyone around besides my hunting partner on occasion. I have found massive rubs on cedar trees that border on ridiculous for these parts...for example on the last day of hunting season I found a massive rub/ high and shredded to the max on a 10 inch tree on the way out through a funnel I had never walked...I have seen these rubs for 3 years now but have never spotted the brute/brutes making them. I am thinking I am entering my stand incorrectly in the morning or hunting reverse of what I should...IE mornings when I should enter in the evening for example. Been tough but I know they are there. shadow |
RE: Do you think he could have done it?
I agree with Charlie and say that it was a spike[8D]
|
RE: Do you think he could have done it?
I would say it's quite possible that buck made it
this is a common rubin my area ![]() |
RE: Do you think he could have done it?
I do not think it was the same buck, the brows on your camera buck are wider apart(they are well up the beam) than the gouges on the tree.....i think:eek:
|
RE: Do you think he could have done it?
That's an awesome picture! I've never seen marks like that on a tree from just the browtines. It's hard to tell if it is the same buck, but could possible be...

ORIGINAL: Oneshot7 I agree with Charlie and say that it was a spike[8D] Sorry to crush your dreams of a bigger buck:eek:;):D |

oh ya:D

RE: Do you think he could have done it?
Ive always heard that big deer will rub little trees but little deer wont rub big trees.
|
RE: Do you think he could have done it?
Just wait until this fall with the growth he should experience. That will be one big 2.5er.
|
RE: Do you think he could have done it?
How fresh is that rub? Could it be from the big boy you got this year? Either way he shredded it!
|
RE: Do you think he could have done it?
ORIGINAL: janesburg How fresh is that rub? Could it be from the big boy you got this year? Either way he shredded it! There's no way my buck could have done that. His tip to tip spread was only 5 2/8" and his g-2s angled in towards each other and were 6 4/8" apart. Unless he turned his head sideways he'd have to rub smaller trees, which I know he did by the bark on his antlers. But if he did that the rub wouldn't look like the picture. |
RE: Do you think he could have done it?
dern man thats huge
