Just wondering who(in the bowhunting forum) actually bowhunts.

How many times did you bowhunt this season/year? Last season/year? On average (in a year)?

This was my first year bowhunting. I compiled32 sits totaling70 hours. Next year will hopefully be more depending on my schedule.

last season?? i think roughly 10 days...killed my buck on my 7th day or so rough...2 or 3 of the days i was doe hunting in mid sept. my excel log book is on my old pc so i dont know for sure but im close...

last year, i have no idea...too many to count! hunted like 4 days a week the entire bowseason...

My season starts oct. 15th or whatever sat. is closest to it and goes until dec.31st. I did not keep records this year but have in past years so I will be guestimating when I say between afternoon sits and morning sits, I probably had between 60 and 70 sets. I also lost 6 days due to the birth of my daughter on oct. 31st., I did hunt that morning though!

'07 season I was at my cabin every weekend.'06 season I didn't hunt at all because of an injury.I started a new jobin Octoberand didn't have any vacation time--I usually take off the whole last week of archery.Couldn't do it this past season.

August 30th to Dec 23rd here.... I didnt keep exact track, but I hunted at least 5 days total(mostly after work)a week, all the weekends...sosometimes 6 and 7 days /week... of the entire season.

I really got to hunt a lot this year... more than I did last season.. as my kids get older I see I am really getting free'd up even more..

I don't keep track, but I didn't hunt NEARLY as much this year as previous years. Last year, I set more than 60 hunts during the season, this year I bet it was only half that.

But, I shot my buck and doe early in November, and coupled w/ my van giving me fits, I just didn't get out as much. Somehow though, it was still the best season I've had. And not just because I shot a buck.

I have to check the official numbers when I get home, but I was up over 150 hrs on stand this year, probably closer to 175. I don’t think I’ve ever topped over 90 in past seasons. Mostly in the 65-85 hour range.

This year for all seasons & states with a bow in my hand.
173.5 hours from 58 trips

Now here is JUST the regular PA archery season hours for the last 4 years
07-114.5 hrs
06-66 hrs
05- 85 hrs
04-68.5 hrs

I see a lot of you guys log hours instead of "sits" or "days". Interesting......I've never really thought of it that way.....but I guess I could form an "average" sit and come up with a number.

i went about 85 times or so.....i will have to look at my records when i get home for an exact number..so that would be over 200 hours in a tree.

Well our season is/was 6 weeks long, that's roughly 42 days long, no Sunday hunting so I won't count them I probably plus I was tagged out by Oct 29th so for me personally I hunted all but maybe 4 days of that month. I then hunted along with friends for the remaining 2 weeks following my tagging out.

If I had not tagged out, I'd hunted 42 days minus maybe 4 days plus Sundays.

Between 25 and 30 days Probably roughly 100 to 125 hours!

Probably about 25-30 sits at 3 hrs average...So about 75-90 hours.

Between Black bear, antelope and whitetail I put in over 100 hours the pastyear not to mention time for fishing. It's been a fun year but unfortunately not much to show for it. I wish I could do it this year and then some.

This season I have logged between 150-175 hours................last year would have been closer to 225 hours.

I only bowhunt so if I don't have the bow, I'm not hunting.Unless of course I'm running the video camera;)

i actually bowhunt......this season times i am go to answer in "days" hunted with a bow..that would be 15 days...last season...9 days...on avg. would say about 10 days...when our season goes to "general" i usually only rilfle hunt...unless i have an archery only tag then i will hunt rifle and bow

I sat 28 times. It would have been more, but Indiana rapes non-residents on deer tag fees($150 to kill a doe is pretty expensive meat IMO)and I was done in Ohio.Season opened 29Sept and closes the 3rdof February.

Our season goes from September 15 until Jan 6th. Bowhunting is closed for the 9 day regular gun season at the end of November! I hunted front to back! During the Gun season I was at my property in Northern Michigan for 2 weeks gun hunting. It would be easier to count the days I didn't hunt! Honestly I couldn't tell you how many times I sat on stand this year, ALOT. One thing I do know I hunted more than ever but I scouted just as much if not more!!;)

Our Minnesota Archery deer season starts usually the 3rd week of Sept and goes till Dec 31st
Our Minnesota Bear season starts Sept 1st and goes till the 2nd week of Oct.

This year- 2007

Bow hunting deer= 3 sits
Bow hunting bear= 5 sits

Last year- 2006

Bow hunting deer= 20 sits (Some were all day) (Guessing)
Bow hunting bear= 12 sits

Average sits in a year in 22 years of bow hunting- 1986 thru 2007

Bow hunting deer= 20 sits (Some are all day) (The sits are also a guess!)
Bow hunting bear= 8 sits

I dont record my sits or my hours but a fair estimate would be 40 different sitsfor about 150 hours this season with the bow

im almost 15, ive bowhunted an average of 5-6 weekends a year. learned a lot bowhunting. helps me become a better gun hunter

should mention, after i shot my buck, i didnt hunt much. shot it with 4 weeks left to hunt, so this years numbers are fairly low. i had atleast 3, sometimes 4 days a week to hunt atleast one 4-5hr sit. saturdays i had all day to hunt, usually making 2 4-5hr sits on stand.

on my old PC i kept hours of each sit...average was right around 4-5hrs. dont count the hours i was walking or sitting in the dark either. just made sense not to count those hours.

once i killed my buck, i hunted a few more times "doe hunting" but was really scouting areas for next season and took the bow "incase" a doe came in..didnt try super hard...dont see many does in my bowhunting areas..then i moved during the last 2 weeks of the season so i didnt get to hunt at all.

average for me id say 6 week season by 3-4 days a week is 18-24 hunting days a season..the year before last, im sure i made alot more than 18 days out, but had a better college schedule so i was able to do so...all depends for me...

My Wife would ask if I do anything besides Bowhunt for about 3 months out of the year, and the answer would be No;)

I usually am hunting somewhere in Oct., Nov., & Dec. Then you got Turkey season:)I would say I am out Bowhunting between 50 and 100 days a year.

Some people take responsibilities too serious, I just Go Bowhunt!!;)

27 sits this year with an average of 2-3 hours per sit. It would sure be more if my schedule allowed.

I have no idea how much I've hunted this year or any other for that matter. I guess if I thought about it I could come close.....but why the hell would I want to do that???

34 sits that i documented and probably 10 or so more with an average of about 100 hours probably. Over the whole season, probably 60 sits with 200 hours logged. I saw 5 mature bucks this year, one after the season that should groos into the 140's as a 3 1/2. Now all he has to do is not be stupid and he will make it into next year.

I dont keep track of it. Better that way because if my wife realized how many hours it was, I would have a bigger hunny do list.

My boss was realy cool to me and he let me check out of work at 2:00 everyday to go hunting... For the past three seasons I have been in the woods almost every day from sep15 to late november. After that I kind of chill out and only go about three times a week:DBowhunting is my LIFE...

This is the first year I really kept track and I had 52 different sits. The last being yesterday afternoon.

I will average about 220 hrs. in stand a year. Some years even as much as 260-270.. but usually right around 220-225 hrs.
