Seen horses, atv's, Dogs, fox, coons, possum, black mink, squirrels, people walking, shooting guns across the creek, paintball fight across the creek.
Two fawns run up to the mother and start nursing (one on each side) Bucks grunting while chasing does. 9 point buck rubbing a tree for about 10 minutes, 20 yrds away...then taking him @ 5 yrds |

Seen a hawk kill a squirrel at least twice Climbed up into a pine tree in the darkness only to be awakened by an owl Seen deer sex Seen what I believe were two people cheating on their spouses this year on a little dirt road in the back of a truck :) Seen coyotes running a doe Seen two dogs running a fox, only for the fox to circle back around them and start following them on their backtrail Had a dog run up on the tree I was in last year and piss all over it Saw a poacher with a gun hunting on federal property last year Had military personnel walk through my hunting area talking and walked right under the tree I was sitting in, they didnt see me Shot a giant buck in its rack one year--I didnt have buck fever or anything |

ORIGINAL: Charlie P Been shot (twice) My second time I got shot in the calf with a .22; the kid was about fifteen and I was nineteen at the time (I am currently 22). I was guiding exotics hunts that summer in the hill country and he was with his dad at the gun range on the ranch. I was sitting at the shooting bench with his dad. Well the kid pulls a loaded .22 out of his dads truck and go figure the safety was off. Long story short, the gun went off and the bullet hit me in the calf. Didn't even realize it for about fifteen seconds. It didn't really hurt either. Didn't get any stitches, doc said I would be fine. Yep, thats the day I decided to stop guiding hunts and go back to college. |

While hunting..
seen no less than 100 yotes (in 12 years) only killed 5. seen 2 booners seen a hawk kill a barn cat (what a scream that was). had a bullet zip past me at less than 10 feet. have lost a knife, a grunt call, glove, release, range finder, and car keys. seen a bobcat in the suburbs of Chi-town have had roosting turkeys above my head (same tree) twice. have had a raccoon above my head in same tree (he wouldn't get down). had a squirrel on my stand. was followed by like 5 or 6 yotes all the way back to my vehicle (that was wild). missed more bucks than I care to admit. stalked no less than 5 deer to within 20 yards. (shot and killed only one I shot at). met some good folks. met some real a**holes. Not many. filmed a buddy take a doe. have been filmed by buddy taking a doe. have watched the sun rise 1,000 times and it still never gets old. |

Had many people walk around the field I was hunting without knowing I was there
Shot 2 deer of the ground Shot rabbits with my bow Shot squirrels with my bow Sat all day during the rut and not see a deer Had a 150 class buck within 50 yards 3 times and he evaded me 3 times Rattled bucks in Grunted bucks in Bleated does in Fawn bleated fawns in Had a skunk under my stand 2 times this year right when I was about to get down Had a skunk come within 5 yards as I was on the ground scouting, never knew I was there Seen bald eagles Seen a black bear Had a fox come under (directly under) me twice, each time the season was closed Have witnessed 55 deer in a field at one time, I have a picture to prove it Seen cats Seen dogs Seen roosters Heard wolves on stand upnorth Had a pair of yotes follow me back to my truck while I was draging a doe back. Would have shot them if I had my rifle. Too far for a bow. Im sure I'll think of a few more later. |

I've had bear within 3" of me in my tree, there foot was on my stand on 2 different occasions. I've got pics of one bear on my cudde which I believe has a 22" to 23" skull! I've found bear tracks up where we bear hunt that were 6 3/4" wide (Front foot) I've seen 5 possible booner bucks while bow hunting through out the years, biggest was in the 190" class. Fell in a spear hole in -30 below temps while moving the fish house. I've met some of the past presidents of the P@Y club, some of whom I talk with every P@Y convention, some I could care less about! I've wounded 1 animal in the 21 years I've bow hunted, hit a bear in the foot. |

****25 years ago I had my climber descend the tree without me ....hung there until I was able to burn through my safety belt with my cigarette lighter .... I smoked at the time ...... there is the exception to the rule ... smoking saved my life ;)almost passed out, if I would have, I may not be here today ...
***** HAd a raccoon in my tree ... I found this out when it got light outside .... he was none to happy .... hissing and edging towards me ... ***** I have had countless birds land on me and squirrels crawl up my tree to within a few inches .... ***** watched a guy shoot my beagle while we were rabbit hunting .... he was ok after a few weeks ... ***** got bored one day and shot a squirrel with a broadhead, chunking of a piece of his skin .... I went to get him, and as I was coming back, here comes the biggest buck I have seen in those woods walking a mere 20 feet from where my stand was, broadside ... all I could do was watch him walk by, as the shot from the ground was not clear [:@] ***** Squirrels everywhere on crunchy leaves ... I heara "squirrel"from behind me ... turns out to be a grey HUGE 10 pointer ... walks right under my stand ... I couldn't get ready quick enough **** so many more .... |

Had squirrels on me.
Had birds on me. Had a weasel on me. Saw a doe get bred. Saw bucks sparring. Saw bucks make rubs and scrapes. Heard the snort wheeze, grunt and the growl. Saw a red tail hawk kill a squirrel. Saw a great horned owl try to take the squirrel from the hawk. Had raccoons climb my tree. Heard a doe grunt. Saw a doe mistime a jump over a fence and wipe out. Almost got dragged down a ravine by a turkey I shot. Almost got ran over bya deer I shot. Saw deer use a licking branch. Heard fawns calling for their mother. Saw coyotes chasing deer. Saw a coyote rush a flock of 1000 geese and come up empty. Saw a buck try to jump a creek and do a giant belly flop. Saw deer sleep. Grunted in plenty of bucks. Rattled in only one. Saw 4 B&C bucks. Got turned around once (not lost).;) |

Ok, lets see.......
Some of this stuff happened to me while I was fishing in the mountains too. Had a Red Tail Hawk fly past my head at about 18in while up in my stand Seen Bobcats playing (mother and kittens) for about 15min. (way cool) Had a Cougar steal my string of fish.....While fishing about 50yd away![:@] Had a shotgun slugfly by my head so close I could hear it "whizzing" as it went by. (last time I hunted public land during the gun season BTW:D) Stepped on a Rattle Snake, to this day I don't know why he didn't strike me.  ......glad he didn't though.;)Had a Feral Cat "stalk" to within 2 feet of me while hunting and calling forCoyotes only to realize I wasn't the biggest frickin mouse he had ever seen!:D Had a Coyote run right up to me from behind so fast that when he realized I wasn't his next mealand tried to stop, he slid into the tree I was leaning against! Had a whacked outgirl pretend she was "Tonto" with full face paint and feathers in her hair put her ear to the ground by a Coyote print and proceeded to try and tell me it was a Cougar some distance away and that we should try to catch up to it and kill it.........with the .22's we had.  (long story, I posted about it a while back.:D) I'm sure there is more,I just can't think of them right now. |

Had a huge owl land on the branch I was standing on, less than 5 feet.
Had a mature bobcat walk on the log I was sitting on (ground), got within 5 feet, then backed up! Had hawks make pass at my head a few times. Had raccoon incidents much like others have described. Have taken 6 deer with bow from ground. 2 of those were still hunting on public land. One was a mature doe I called in with a tending sequence on 10/9. Go figure. Missed a possible P & Y twice while still hunting on public land. 9:00 am on a weekend, heavily hunted area. Go figure. With daughter, watched a hawk miss a red squirrel twice, 10 feet from us. Seen squirrels fall out of trees (they bounce). Got threatened and run off by scary individual with gun, on land I had permission to be hunting. Saw B & C class buck in bow range. Missed a slam dunk P & Y 4 times while road hunting! (long, long ago lol) |

Saw a bobcat kill a squirrel. That was so cool. It was in bow range but by the time I realized I wanted to shoot the cat it was too late.

She tells me she is "Part Black Foot Indian, and hunts all the time." and that she wanted to go hunting with me sometime. Ok, I'm thinking it's a kinda strange first date but she's pretty good looking and it's the off season so I'll take her Rabbit hunting in the foot hills.....who knows what might happen.;) Well the day arrives and she meets me at one of the many dirt roads off of the canyon road (Utah) that lead into the foot hills. I notice that she has a small part of her hair (next to her ear)braided and a feather hanging from it.:eek:AND....you guessed it...HER FACE PAINTED!!! Now I'm thinking "this broad is nuts" but I give her the benefit of the doubt, perhaps she is just proud of her heritage, plus...she IS good looking.:) So we grab our rifles (.22's) and head out.We had been walking for some time talking about school, football and such when all of a sudden she spots some tracks (Coyote) and drops to the ground...procedes to put her ear to the ground......looks up at me and says......."Big female Cougar...about a half mile ahead heading south, if we hurry we can catch it." I'm just standing there like and I say..."First, that's a Coyote track....Second, even if it were a Cougar track, which it's not! we don't have a tag for it, nor a gun to kill it with, and third your frickin nuts!!!" Well she stands up and says "Hey, I don't need a tag I'm an American Indian." :eek:At this point I'm thinking this crazy broad is gonna shoot me or something so I say to her, "Good luck with the Cougar, I'm heading back to my car." and turn and walk away. I seen her a couple more times on campus but she acted like she didn't know me......thank God!!:D It took a turn for the "surreal" when she flopped down on the ground! I'm just standing there thinking to myself "Why do you always pick the crazy ones John?" :D I couldn't get out of there fast enough...the whole time down back to my car I kept looking over my shoulder hoping she wasn't there pointing her gun at me!:D:D:D I know....but this chick was certifiable! I mean, she's on the ground playing "Tonto" and I'm standing there like "you gotta be freakin kidding me!" When something like that happens to a person, it takes a couple seconds for what you're seeing to compute. After I processed what just went down, I said what I said and got the hell out of there!:D I could tell she was not happy with me and I wanted to keep my hair!:) |

Had a hawk attack my turkey decoy.
Had a guy burrying water softer salt under my stand while i was in it :Dand toting a rifle, He got caught ;) Stepped in crap :eek: lost knives. been lost. fell in water numerous times. Had my lab track me from four miles away while walking out in the dark and scare the hell out of me, i thought he was a raptor. crapped on by birds. been stranded when the bottom of my climber went to the ground. coon fights. squrrill fights. |

Had a button buck lick my screw in tree steps while I hung in my treesaddle just 12 feet above his head.
Watchedthree 6 x 6 Michigan free ranging bull elk from 15 yards while sitting on the ground against a tree during rifle season. Heard countless free ranging elk bugle in Michigan (what a treat! sends chills down your spine!) [:-] Had a doe and two fawns lick the windows of our cabin this year - while my3 year old daughter stood at the window staring at them- AND got it on camera! :) Saw six other hunters in 2 hours on the 80 acres I hunt! [:@] Had a carbon arrow blow up on me. [:-] Watched my dad accidently fire an arrow through the bedroom wall and into the back yard - and then move the bedroom furniture to cover up the hole! :D |

Had a house cat climb my tree, and knock the bottom of my climber down the tree
been swooped at by a hawk landed on by mocking bird and blue jay had a squirel in the stand with me had raccoons above and below me called a jake in to point blank range (and he still never saw me!!!) killed a deer @ about a foot from the muzzle of my rifle killed (at the time) the biggest deer of my life on a day I left work sick watched a creek change directions and flow upstream saw a panther shot at (and missed) the same 10 point 2 years in a row (with the bow) had another hunter walk directly under my climber and never see me and someone else mentioned, seen a million sunrises |

Seen a B&C buck get up from behind a barnthat my guide and Iwalked less than 5 yards from, we never saw him.
Wounded 1 deer in the 140 class Heard coyotes howl at my house for the first time Saw bucks spar, grunt, and fight Seen Piebald and albino deer Had a 7 point about 1 yard away sniffing my arrow (never blew at me) Have seen a non-typical Been 5 yards from a 12 point Had a squirrel hunter use the bathroom 50 yards from my stand Had him come by my new stand to go set a coon trap up Grunted in around 7 deer and killed 3. Seen bobcats and foxes at the base of my tree Seen deer swim seen does fight |

killed 1 squirrel 2 rabbits seen cougar walked 10` from and past a 135" to 140" 10 pt without knowing it in a briar patch run the same guy off my property twice in less than two hours from the same spot seen a bobcat and two kittens seen coyote trailing said bobcats cut index finger badly on broadhead had turkey I had shot w/ bow stolen coyote running doe coyote dogs running deer 3 pointer blood trail the buck I had just shot 5 min before (actually licking the blood a few times) seen albino twins (then bro. killed one with me) had landowner and his dog walk right under stand and not see me seen rubbing ,scraping, sparring, and scent checking scrapes from 45 yds. |

Took 3 dumps from my Goliath (2 this year) 20-25 feet up Climbed down VERY carefully after the above Dropped my harness rope Seen 2 Shiras bull moose pushing each other around Seen cow Shiras with a little one in tow Seen bald eagle Seen black bear Seen numerous mule deer Lasered my brothers chest at 28 yards away Had bird shot from a pheasant hunter tear through the leaves of my tree Had bird shot from a different pheasant hunter tear through the hedge row I was on theground in Had numerous guys walk right by and never know I was there Seen horses Watched the sunrise and seton snow capped mountains Shot a buck on some property with an interesting history Been asked by another hunter "Did you steal my stand??" (His was a ladder and I was in my summit) [8D] |
