The alpha has the easy hang brackets like BowHuntingFool mentioned and that will make it much easier to go to a tree that is already setup. I don't know but I don't think the assault has that kind of setup. Also, as has been mentioned, the assault has a smaller platform but if your trees are already setup with climbing sticks and all then they should accomodate the larger platform and that would be better IMO.

The '07 Assault does have the Ezy hang bracket but I never use it. But as stated the Assault platform is quite a bit smaller.

You didnt list the Gorilla Silverback. That'd be my choice.

I do the same on one property I hunt, simply because the landowner doesnt want me to leave the stand itself up (i can leave the steps). Personally, as long as the stand has back pack straps, 3 or 4 lbs wont make too much of a difference. In fact, I covered one of my stands with marine carpet, to quiet down the tube steel. I just recommend that you take an extra ratchet strap with you.
