How many amongst us use only archery equipment?
 

I use to use archery to get a jump on the season but last year somthing changed and now im hooked, no more firearms for me, no sir.

It all depends. If its late in the season and I need to put meat in the freezer I take both. If the deer comes into bow range I use my bow. If not, then it gets a 150gr. corelokt from my .270win.

i've not been on my first archery hunt yet, but my tac on this is just to use whatever means is best given the situation... some places I hunt lend themselves to guns better than bows... some places are gonna be better for bows... I take the weapon that happens to be the best for my situation (given the season I'm in)

I have not used a gun for deer hunting in 12 years.However, I took up turkey hunting last year and bought a Mossberg 535. This spring I will be bowhunting gobblers though and the kids can use the gun.

I love to hunt, I will use any weapon that will put in the woods legally! Hunting is my passion with bow at the top of the list of weapons then my Flintlock!

bow only,but just tried ML for the first time this year.First time in 15yrs I have carried a firearm in the woods for deer. I didn't get into it the way I do with my bow and saw very few deer.I have always been more lucky with my bow,or maybe I just try alot harder with the bow??

I hunt only with Archery but will not swear off other means by other hunters.

The only firearms I currently own are a pistol and a shotgun. I sold my rifles a long time ago.

The only thing I'll break out a gun for is small game such as squirrels (usually .22) or rabbit hunting. On the rare occasion I get to go dove hunting these days, I'll take my scattergun.

Anything large game is bow only for me.

I thought about hunting flying rats with a bow but that sounds really expensive. A 22. sounds good for the small game.

It really depends on what im after.
for deer I would go with the bow
for turkey, my shot gun
squirrel, deffinatly a .22 rimfire
and cyotes will feel the rath of my rifles (which reminds me I need to get a bolt action .223 or maybe a .204 ruger). any of the above that is stupid enough to walk inside 30yrd of my stands WILL be shot at with my bow!! no guaruntees on the smaller targets but they will be shot at. I have hit squirrels from a tree with expandables and small game fixed heads.

Small game(if time allows) and spring turkey I will use a shotgun, but for anything else..........bow only.

I use both gun and bow. The gun is real efficient for thinning does.

Shotgun for turkeys, sometimes cause I carry the bow there too. I'll still shotgun bunnies but have bowhunted them too.

Haven't shot a deer with a rifle since the 90's and it was doe for management. Probably won't shoot another one, ever. If I can't take it with a bow, I don't want it. That includes animals I'm after but haven't hunted yet including but not limited to mule deer, moose, caribou, pronghorn etc...All North American big game animals.

Whatever season is in determines what weapon I use. I enjoy both rifle, ML and bow hunting for different reasons.

Here in Virginia, a lot of regs/seasons are divided by the Blue Ridge Mts and also within certain counties. So, I always head west to the other side of the Blue Ridge to my deer camp (i.e. get away from the deer hounds which run amok east of the Blue Ridge - but that's another thread... [&o] ).

Archery season --- compound bow.
Muzzleloader season --- compound bow.
General firearms season --- rifle, maybe shotgun w/buckshot, but 90% of the time - rifle.
Late Archery season --- compound bow.

I'm not about to limit myself to a single weapon, and I seriously doubt that I'll ever like a bow enough to do that anyway.

I started bowhunting for deer about 15 years ago after a friend of mine got me into it. I live and hunt in a bow only county so my decision is kind of made for me. The county 2 miles away has a shotgun season yet if I hunt there I use the bow. I dont really need the meat so filling the freezer is not mandatory. I just get such a kick out of bowhunting that I've never even thought of using a gun. No problem with others doing it though.

I've taken a couple turkeys.....before I started bowhunting via shotgun. Since I started bowhunting.....I don't seeme ever taking another turkey with a gun.

I see me buying a ML sometime in the future. What I choose to pursue with it.....I don't know. Maybe predators. Maybe something weird like a wolf. I'd like to do soemthing like that one day.

My only rifle is .22 cal so... my bow is my only weapon for now. but i think i will only start rifle hunting to fill the freezer when archery season isn't successful:D.

I only bowhunted for a lot of years, but I'm in the process of getting set up for muzzleloading again. And I have to admit the bowhunting forum was the inspiration behind my decision. I've been feeling the need to make noise and smoke againfor quite awhile anyway, but one of the discussionshere, where more than a few were bad mouthinggun hunters just before Thanksgiving, got me fired up to do it.

I bow hunt threw all of archery season and gun hunt the gun seasons.

I get a much bigger high off killing with my bow but gun hunting is a tradtion for me.

That night before gun season is really magical, the comradery and thatfeeling before heading out with friends and family cannot be beat.

I started out gun hunting and will always continue doing it.

My privit land is bow only aswell. I plan to buy a muzzleloader this summer.
I plan to bow hunt all i can but come gun season i will gow with the muzzleloader for doe if i have gottin a deer with my bow.
I wont my first deer and buck if there not the same to be with my bow.
So if i get a doe early next season i will go with the ml but if not i will hold out untill the beinging of dec after that i will go with the ml

I bow hunt about 75%,rifle and m/l some each year, and even shoot one with a pistol once in a while. I just love to hunt...and honestly its a little nice to have a change of pace sometimes, though I usually take my bow. Took myrifle out today, first time in over a month.

I agree 100%, the tradition that there is with the Gun season is pretty cool. My father never missed an opening day upnorth for 49 years! We all get together for the opening moring breakfast and go off hunting, nothing like it!

I went to a rifle range for the 1st time recently. I was shooting my friends 30-30 Marlin. I thought I did quite well but for now I'm sticking with the bow.

i agree i plan to bow hunt for the thrill of the hunt and ml and shotgun for meat . i just love being out there

Had to vote other. Big game is exclusively bow. I shoot a lot of pheasants with the scattergun and predator hunt and prarie dogs with a rifle.
