I might be getting a Diamond Edge for a birthday present. Im 13 and the guy at gander mountain said its a good bow for a youngster to start out with. Is thisa good bow.

Yes! It's an awesome bow to start out with. As you get older you just move right up along the Bowtech line:D.

I bought one for my son (10 yrs) for Christmas. We are going to go to the archery shop tomorrow to see if we can get him set up! Bow looks great and most everyone I talked to agreed it's a great bow. Limbs go from 20-29 lbs, 30-40 and 40-50 lbs. If you go with a lower set, when you out grow them you can send in and they will put thebigger limbs on itfor around 50 bucks. I got the 30-40 lbs limbs, not sure where it's set and hope we can get the draw weight down enough so he can draw it back ok! I thought someone told me they had the 30-40 lb limbs down to 26-28lbs? I will find out tomorrow I guess where we are at with it. I bought the Dimond package for 299.99. It comes with quiver,braided rope for grip,peep sightand prong rest, I may put on a wisker biscuit instead.

I just opened Capitol Archery here in Michigan and this has already become my fastest moving bow. My wife shoots one and they are a great bow. I was amazed watching this thing shoot. It is pretty fast, extremely smooth and everyone that is shooting them, loves it.

Crutch- The Edge Package for the '08 model should have the "Hostage" rest on it. IMO they are better than a whisker biscuit in design. Ask your guy if you can get it beforeyou spend another $40. The '08 is the same price as the '07. They shouldn't have a problem switching it for you.

BullRider115, I agree about the rest. I have a WB, but my son has the Hostage rest and I really like the design.

The Edge bow is a great bow and for dealers they have been hard to keep on the shelves. You will Love your new Diamond Edge!

My dad's going to get the Diamond package,but I might also upgrade to the WB. My dad's only going to buy the bow. So whats the best arrows and broadheads.

The Hostage rest that comes in the package is a nice rest, no need to upgrade to a WB. As far as arrows and broadheads. Arrows are the 1st thing you will need. Just make sure the spine is right. Starting out you don't need the best out there. You will lose and crash a few. You can always upgrade down the line. My choice of arrows include CX Maximas, ACC's, FMJ's, Axis (all carbon), the Beman ICS arrows are also a good arrow for the money. Slick tricks are the best replaceable blade broadhead I have used in 40 years of Bowhunting. I sell a lot of different heads, but Slick Tricks stay in my quiver;)

The weight range on the limbs should be adhered to per the specs. You might get them down a couple more pounds than stated but it would not be recommended;)
