Frontal Shot on an Elk

Tonight, I was watching Bowhunter Magazine TV; in which Dwight Shue was hunting in Wyoming. He shoots at elk at 15 yards at what appears to be walking directly towards him. Even if the camera man was off to one side, it is still a quartering towards the hunter shot. Dwight does eventually recover the elk; but this struck me as kind of irresponsible - particularly on national TV. Did anyone else see this?

No I didn't see it, sounds to me he never should of taken the shot.

Didn't see the show, but I did see last night's thread 'Shooting an Elk Facing You?'. ;)

I just noticed you posted a couple of hours before the other thread was started. Why everyone chose that thread over yours, I haven't a clue. One of them forum mysteries. [8D]

Reminds me of the big Non-typical Stan Potts shot in the front of the neck on video about five years ago. He recovered the deer and defended the shot by saying the deer was just to big to let walk and he didn't have any other choice. Ethics seem to take a back seat to tv ratings and video sales.

I was watching roadtrips because I was bored, LOL Schultz guy missed a giant buck. He missed it because he ask his camera man if he was on the deer. This alertated the buck to his position. Lucky the buck "jump" the string.

I think most hunting shows have really lost what hunting is about. I would rather have my fingers smashed with a hammer than give my position away to a mature buck or doe. I guess I just do not get it

Sorry for the double post. I typed up the first one - got about ready to send it and apparently bumped some key and it disappeared. So I typed up a second one and sent it. Then when I was closing down the machine, there was the first one sitting there - so I hit the "send" button. Should have just cancelled it.

Dwight continually takes poor angle shots on a multitude of game. He is a true bobbagadouche as far I can tell.

LOL! I didn't notice you started the other one too. Man, I am slow this morning. [8D]
