Your dream bow.
Alright, lets play pretend here. The bow manufacturer of your choice, would make you a custom bow. However you told them to. What would you ask them to build?
I'd go with... 36 - 37" ata 7.5" brace mid wrist, thin grip parellel limbs hybrid cam 320 fps at my 31" draw. whisper quiet, with just a tiny bit of a "thump" to it. I do like knowing my bow went off, since I like a surprise release. MUST be balanced without a stabilizer, and tip slightly forward at the shot. |
RE: Your dream bow.
The one I have pulled back on a 220'' typical whitetail:D
|
RE: Your dream bow.
One that attacts bucks, locates them for me, keeps me company in the stand and always puts the arrow where it needs to be!![8D]

RE: Your dream bow.
There are alot of bows that match thoses specs.
You should throw in a deflex riser or something.;) http://www.hoyt.com/compound_bows/hoyt_kateraXL_compound_bow.php |

36" 8" brace 320-330 ibo Or this,it can get as high as 318@ 30",should be good at 31" http://www.bowtecharchery.com/commander.php From what I hear, the commander probably doesn't have much thump. |
RE: Your dream bow.
do those bows have that sort of front dip to them on the release without a stabilizer? I may have to go shoot one when i go bow shopping in a few weeks.
|
RE: Your dream bow.
Most of them should not dip untill a stabilizer is added but I have not shot them so I can't say for sure.
There are stabilizers that can have weights added to the front to give you the balance before and after the shot that you like.I actually do this myself but I usually don't have the weight on when I go hunting,it is more for 3-d. |
RE: Your dream bow.
I would go with the Guardian but with more speed. If i could get more speed with my short draw it would be my dream bow, but thats hard to do with a 25.5" draw.

RE: Your dream bow.
I would ask Black Widow to build me a 60# @ 30"three piece longbow on a slimmed down SA Bacote recurve riser with 64" limbs and Bamboo cores. They don't currently make this bow but I'd buy one in a heartbeat if they did.[:-]
It would probably look very similar to a Habu "Death Adder" longbow. what did you think I'd say?;) |
RE: Your dream bow.
my dream bow is the one that i will be buying in about a month when i have the money after christmas and my birthday to buy a fred bear "the truth" and all of the accesories seperate
|
RE: Your dream bow.
My dream bow...well:
32-33" ata 8" or so brace height, not less. So as TFOX stated a deflex riser might be needed Instead of one grip I want many, many styles I can pick from and play with. Included with bow, of course. 320fps @ 28" draw @ 60lbs chucking a 425 gr arrow (yeah dream time) Draw cycle like my old Hoyt Fastflight with Control cams (btw I'd buy that bow back from whoever I sold it to ;) ) 4.5 lbs Adj let off with 50, 65 and 80% choices without needing a press. Adj draw length (without a press) to cover the full spectrum. A TWO piece quiver Of course quiet and shock free with no bow movement on release. I want to hold my pin on target till the arrow arrives. A solid wall and forgiving valley. The last thing I want that will make it so much different than todays bows is one that fits my budget. |
RE: Your dream bow.
Honestly Bowtech has been making my Dream Bow every year since 03. That's why I started shooting them, and each year I think they can't improve on them, but they Do and prove me wrong.:D
Regardless what type Bow you are looking for with the Lineup that Bowtech/Diamond offers it's hard to believe there isn't one that's just what you are looking for. Single Cam? Speed Bow? Quiet? Forgiving? Shock Free? They pretty much cover the table;) Dan |

RE: Your dream bow.
Hehe, nice plug. Unfortunately no, there isn't a bow in the Bowtech/diamond lineup that comes even remotely close to my dream bow. I doubt one could even match half of my wishes to my satisfaction. Then again there isn't a manufacturer that could. Still, that was a heck of an advertisement.

RE: Your dream bow.
I got to shoot a Diamond Black-Ice a while back and it's been my dream-bow ever since. I'm sure there's at least a couple more I'd like as much ormore, but that's the one I dream about now.

RE: Your dream bow.
I don't push Bowtech because I am on Staff. Actually I am probably on Staff because I have believed in the company and their product since 03. (hopefully a couple of other reasons as well)My opinion ofBowtech was no different the years before I was on staff. I promote Double Bull Blinds, BuckNasty strings, Gray Wolf Woolens, and other products I don't sell and have no connections with. Why?? Same reason I promote any product that I do sell,I believe in it, and IMHO it is the best product out there, at least for my use.
IMO Bowtech has one of if not the best lineups out there. If you think I'm just running an AD because I'm on Staff then you really don't know me, because if I didn't believe in the company, their bows, and their commitment to customer service. I would not be on Staff.;) Single Cam Bows: Diamond Marquis Diamond Black Ice Speed Bows: Airborne 82 Airborne 101 Arguably one of the best Hunting bows ever made: fast, shock free, super accurate, light, and very portable. Bowtech Allegiance Shock free, Quiet Bows: General Guardian Commander Long A to A, Stable shooting platform: Constitution Short Draw bow capable of amazing speeds, but yet very quiet, shock free, and accurate even in inexperienced hands: Equalizer One of the best Bargains on the market and still a top performer with the latest in Binary Cam technology: TomKat I could go on, but as you can see with just the bows that I have mentioned it is an Awesome selection of bowsthat meets/exceeds tons of guys expectations. After allBowtech's growth numbers don't lie, and even though archery has grown ever so slightly Bowtech continues to grow by leaps and bounds. That Growth comes from somewhere:D Dan |
RE: Your dream bow.
MeanV2,
Your knowledge of the Bowtech/DIamond line is commendable. Your right I don't know you. Even if I did I'd be somewhat of a skeptic. I really don't trust salesman or paid employees (I'll even stick brand loyal customers in here), regardless or how pure they claim their intentions to be. PaBuck, I do have a bow(s) I am happy with. How am I dishonest and poking at other threads? Please explain as this one baffles me. You guys missed the whole point of the thread. It is about "DREAM" bows and what a person would want if they could dream. "Regardless what type Bow you are looking for with the Lineup that Bowtech/Diamond offers it's hard to believe there isn't one that's just what you are looking for." This is what started it all off. Instead of reading what I wanted in my dream bow and finding a bow that matched my requirements, a whole product line was stuck in my face. I found this inappropriate, especially since not one bow in that product line came close to what I want in my dream bow. That's why it comes across as a product plug/advertisement more than anything else. I rememeber imagining where we would be now, 15 yrs ago. Heck I can even remember dreaming of a new bow dang near 30 yrs ago. If you pay close attention to my list you'll see what we have today is a long ways away from achieving this. I am dreaming of the bow that we will probably have in 10-15yrs from now. Merry Christmas. |

PaBuck, I do have a bow(s) I am happy with. How am I dishonest and poking at other threads? Please explain as this one baffles me. Sure does look like that your poking at Dan for being some kind of salesman. You look like your wanting to argue the quality of Bowtech/Diamond with him, or just didn't want to hear about what his dream bow/bows were. Dream Away Lance.... |
RE: Your dream bow.
ORIGINAL: PABuck_HNTR Sure does stand out that your poking at Dan for being some kind of salesman. You look like your wanting to argue the quality of Bowtech/Diamond. You made accusations, I addressed them. Dream Away Lance.... Seems like you are assuming a lot here and/or reading more into what I typed. Reason for "poking" at Dan expained above. Rest is what you are assuming or misinterpreting what I am saying. Sorry if I wasn't clear enough that you interpreted it this way. I never did or ever will argue the quality of any bow on the forums. If you know me well enough to call me by my first name you'd know this. Reread my last post(s) you'll see what I mean. (#17 should show no brand specific attack) Edit: you edited while I was typing. I'd have loved to hear about his dream bow initially. Alls I know is he is shooting his dream bow and I am assuming it is a Bowtech. Again Happy Holidays Sorry to ruffle your feathers. Merry Christmas and God Bless. |
RE: Your dream bow.
For 3D:
38-39" ATA 6.5" brace Not too much riser reflex Machined in handle like an Apex 7, or Apex - beveled edge where thumb goes Lunges forward a bit at the shot 4lbs or less bare bow so I can add weight where I want it to get what I need for mass weight Ability to creep tune or at least make sure shots from anywhere in the valley hit the same 1" spot at 30 yards laminated limbs 350+fps |
