RE: Which Do You Prefer Scent Lock or Scent Blocker?
Just becasue of Tiffany!!!

RE: Which Do You Prefer Scent Lock or Scent Blocker?
I use Scent Blocker. I think it works to a degree but it's not a cure all.
|
RE: Which Do You Prefer Scent Lock or Scent Blocker?
Both have worked for me but I don't hardly use them anymore, to spendy and i've learned other tactics for keeping my scent in check! Hunt the right wind so its not such an issue.
|
RE: Which Do You Prefer Scent Lock or Scent Blocker?
I have only used scent blocker and am pleased with it. As stated above it is not a cure all but I do belive it helps. I'll take all the help I can get!

RE: Which Do You Prefer Scent Lock or Scent Blocker?
From a consumer standpoint I think Scent Blocker has better quality clothes with nicer features. From a dealer standpoint Scent Blocker ships quicker and are more dependable in getting orders correct. So my vote went to Scent Blocker

Please Keep on topic,
This is not a thread asking if you think, feel or know if it works or not. Simply answer, simple poll, which one do you prefer? If you don't care for either, don't answer the poll. Thanks in advance. |

I have used Scent Blocker with some success. So my vote went to Scent Blocker.

ORIGINAL: MeanV2 I always get a kick out of guys who say "Hunt the Wind" and you don't need it. Scent is an all or nothing thing. I control mine by any and all means I can and if you don't you might as well not even bother doing anything. I have yet figured out how to be able to keep all the Deer upwind from me. Rattling, calling, decoy setups, etc. Deer invariably will end up downwind at some point. You better hope you have an edge or 2 or that hunt is busted. I watched hundreds of deer from my Treestand/Blind this year hunting IL. and NE. I was only winded a couple of times and never was it to where the Deer just blew out, rather they knew something wasn't right and moved off. I always setup with the wind to my advantage as best I can but I had many deer end up down wind of me anyway. It did not cost me this year. That's why I believe in a strict scent control regimen, which in my case does include scent blocker.:D Dan |

RE: Which Do You Prefer Scent Lock or Scent Blocker?
Hey Everyone.
I do want to clear something up this thread is for a choice of one or the other. This is not a thread that we'll use to decide whether it works or not or whether you hate the clothing or if it's to pricey. We have seen 1000 of those threads on this sight and they just turn ugly. I surely don't want to go that route here. We all know about the law suit and we all have our opinions. Thanks Enjoy the Thread! |
RE: Which Do You Prefer Scent Lock or Scent Blocker?
Scent Blocker.
|
RE: Which Do You Prefer Scent Lock or Scent Blocker?
I have some of each, but more of Scent Blocker. I don't really have a preferrence because I suspect neither one helps much. If deer get down wind of you and conditions are wrong, you will get winded. I do like the clothes, though. I think the tight fabric does more to control scent than the small amount of carbon in them.

RE: Which Do You Prefer Scent Lock or Scent Blocker?
I have scent lok and it doesn't work.... so the other must be better. LOL
|
RE: Which Do You Prefer Scent Lock or Scent Blocker?
I use to use scent lock, I don't anymore. The camo just sits in a tub now a days!!!!! I'm a firm believer in Scent free clothes wash and a scent free shower!!!!;)
|
RE: Which Do You Prefer Scent Lock or Scent Blocker?
I believe that it buys you that extra 10-20 seconds for the shot. Answer to your question is i like scentblocker better only because i like there style of clothing line better than scentlock

OK

RE: Which Do You Prefer Scent Lock or Scent Blocker?
Dan (MeanV) had a great point... and with respect to Rob's wishes (because I think we're ALL tired of the "it works; no, it doesn't" rhetoric), I'll just speak to the quality of the garments.
I'll be placing an order as soon as the '08 line is released from Scentblocker for a couple pairs each of their base layers in both medium and heavy weights; if you haven't seen these base layers in person, you owe it to yourself to examine them before buying any other base layers. These have to be highest-quality garments I've ever felt or seen, and I think I've looked at everything there is in the hunting industry. This past season, I bought some of their mid-level Dream Season boots as a back-up to my Cabela's 400-gram Thinsulate hiking boots to talke to Colorado with me, and found them to be about as comfortable (if not more so) than walking in tennis shoes. I purchased a couple of their big black-and-yellow duffel bags to haul my clothing and equipment around in, and found them to be extremely rugged and well-built, often reinforced in key stress areas with double stitching. Again, without getting into the actual "forget the wind, just hunt" argument -- the quality of the merchandise they put on out there is second to none. |
RE: Which Do You Prefer Scent Lock or Scent Blocker?
Question. Aren't the the same thing?

RE: Which Do You Prefer Scent Lock or Scent Blocker?
ScentLoc and Scent Blocker (RobinsonOutdoors)both manufacture scent control clothing and other accessories, but they are 2 entirely different companies |
RE: Which Do You Prefer Scent Lock or Scent Blocker?
Robinson Outdoors makes Scent Blocker not ScentLoc;)
Dan |
RE: Which Do You Prefer Scent Lock or Scent Blocker?
Yes, sorry I got that backwards.
Sceltlok technologieslicenses their technology to Robinson and everyone else that makes scent blocking clothing. Still the same stuff. ;) |
RE: Which Do You Prefer Scent Lock or Scent Blocker?
For the most part, I've really liked the ScentBlocker stuff better than Scentlok's clothing. Seems SB's quality is better (IMO better than most whether scent or not) and their functionality always seems more to my liking (such as pockets, etc.). I really like Realtree's AP camo and bought an SL Savanna suit which seems o.k. I've got an SB 3D suit I really like. Just a side note, I've always thought Cabela's would have very good quality stuff that they put their name on but it seems like most of the Cabela's brand stuff is not as well made. I bought a Cabela's 3D suit a few years ago and think it was ScentLok on the inside but the suit itself I did not like at all and took back for the ScentBlocker.

RE: Which Do You Prefer Scent Lock or Scent Blocker?
scentlok lok never worn sent blocker. im sure there
both great suits. |
RE: Which Do You Prefer Scent Lock or Scent Blocker?
Bt now with all the manufacturers building garments with Scent Lok in them, doesn't that put them all on a pretty even keel. Scent Lok/ Scent Blocker.... can't you pretty much get the same things in either now???? if you haven't seen these base layers in person, you owe it to yourself to examine them before buying any other base layers. These have to be highest-quality garments I've ever felt or seen, and I think I've looked at everything there is in the hunting industry. |
RE: Which Do You Prefer Scent Lock or Scent Blocker?
I own 1 of each This year I had the blocker on and I was winded the first time out. I think it still smelled like the store because after that it never happened again. the scent loc never failed me I had the suite for 4 years now my wife wears it.
|
RE: Which Do You Prefer Scent Lock or Scent Blocker?
I don't think there is much of a difference. I have a Scent Blocker suit, but have some various Scent Lok pieces as well.
