Lucky Buck?
Just got this e-mail pic. from my brother. This huge buck just missed being on somebody's wall, by an inch or two. The good thing is he's on his feet and hopefully still alive. Looks like the buck was severely angling away when he took the shot. The guy or gal muststill besick. I know it would haunt me for a long time, to have a buck of a lifetime give you a shot and blow it.
Anybody shooting arrows with orange fletching on? ![]() |
RE: Lucky Buck?
Wow, what a brute. I would be sick for weeks if I did that. Hopefully that arrow will work its way out and that buck will be running around next year too.
Great pic, thanks for sharing. |
RE: Lucky Buck?
That is a huge buck!
Unfortunately I am not sure if he'll make it through a tough winter. Although pics. can be very deceiving.. he is awfully thin for a deer who is a clear 4 1/2 or better buck. Where was the pic. taken? |
RE: Lucky Buck?
I have to ask....
I've seen this photo before. Does anyone really think something that was distressing a deer......as much as that BH must have been (or still is) wouldn't be yanked out by the deer? Wouldn't you THINK he'd have pulled that out.....LONG ago? I know we see some weird stuff.....but I was just wondering. Look how long the arrow is. There CAN'T be much of it inside the deer. |
RE: Lucky Buck?
That was my next thought Jeff...
:eek:photoshop anyone.. |
RE: Lucky Buck?
Good Grief!!!
Whoever shot it has to wondering what went wrong. It's hard to tell, but it looks like it didn't penetrate very far past the BH. Perhaps the BH failed or the aarow was deflected before it hit the deer? |
RE: Lucky Buck?
wow! thats a cool pic, is it me or is that arrow longer thanBigJ's draw?

RE: Lucky Buck?
Duke:
I'm not saying it IS....but I've had two instances where I didn't get pass-thrus.....(that I saw this happen) where the deer pulled the arrow out with its' mouth. As fast as they could they did this. I won't say it's photoshopped. I'll ask.....WHY didn't this deer pull this arrow? |
RE: Lucky Buck?
What a beautiful rack on that deer! No comment on the arrow.

RE: Lucky Buck?
that arrow looks awful long to me.

Another thing that strikes me odd is the arrow length. I have a 30 inch draw and I dont believe my arrows are that long. Not saying its not legit, just looks awful odd. Other than that, what a heck of a deer. |
RE: Lucky Buck?
This will show up as PETA fodder on the animal rights boards.

RE: Lucky Buck?
Saw this on the bowsite a couple weeks ago, some people did some funny things with their photoshop programs with it.
If it's real he the hunter better up their poundage or stop using fieldtips to hunt with. |

ORIGINAL: burniegoeasily This will show up as PETA fodder on the animal rights boards. Who cares, they'll get over it. Looks like the head is in the shoulder blade, but did'nt penetrate it. Hopefully he's not feeling much pain, what a bruiser! |
RE: Lucky Buck?
Do not know the exact location of the pic., really don't know much about it. Just thought I'd share it with all of you.
It is believable to me because of a deer my brother shot several years ago. He shot it in about in the same spot as this one except it was a couple inches higher. The buck was severely quartering away when he shot. This happened in the middle of October, and our neighbor shot it during the rifle season a full month later. The full arrow (aluminum) was still hanging out of the deer, tight to the body. Penetration was only about 5 inches and was lodged going forward. I don't believe the arrow could be pulled out by the deer, the way it went in. If I didn't see it with my own eyes,I would not have believed it. I would have thought the very least that the arrow would have broke off. |
RE: Lucky Buck?
Its hard to believe any good broad head would not penetrate any better. Ive seen mechanicals not penetrate worth a flip on hogs, but that is an entirely different animal. But like I said, im not disputing it, just looks odd.
Ive seen stranger things just this year, so I guess its not my place at all to question this pic.;) |
RE: Lucky Buck?
Wow, I just noticed he has what looks like a unicorn horn coming out of his forehead too, way cool!!
|
RE: Lucky Buck?
Ifthat extra-long arrow with broadhead(?) broke the skin there would be some blood staining. I don't know..I'm not believing the pic. I reckon it's possible.
|
RE: Lucky Buck?
That is entirely possible. Deflection through brush etc. I was forwarded that email and I believe that that buck is in a high fence preserve.
|
RE: Lucky Buck?
I believe its real......My nephew hit a doe fawn back in 2005 in the shoulder. We ended up getting a pic of it 2 weeks later on the trail cam with the arrow still in it. Looks like the exact same hit.

RE: Lucky Buck?
I'm not saying that its not possible, but i have to agree with GMMAT, i mean the deer might not be able to feel it since it is barely stuck, but i think with the deer going through the woods that the arrow would hang on a branch or something and pull out, without harming the deer.

RE: Lucky Buck?
The pic came off the Cuddeback site. It was shot in Wi. Here are two pic's of the deer.

RE: Lucky Buck?
I downloaded the photo and looked at it closer. Strange pixilation around the arrow. Take a look at the size of the neck compared to the back half of the deer. There is no hair missing by the arrow entry. No blood. no sign of razor cuts. The arrow seems out of proportion with the deer (arrow seems too big) The entry point is kinda high on the shoulder for the lack of penetration. the shoulder blade is much thinner that high up. Every deer that I shot always broke the arrow off.
|
RE: Lucky Buck?
heck of a buck but the arrow does look a little fishy
|
RE: Lucky Buck?
Man that is a huge buck, I hope you get him next year.
|
RE: Lucky Buck?
Whack, Right in the shoulder bone! My daughter in law hit a 140 + there on our trip to KY this year.
He will lose the arrow in a day or so, and should recover just fine. |
RE: Lucky Buck?
Beautiful buck. Picture may be cropped, but that buck sure looks real. Arrows can stick in bone. IMO very likely a branch could havecaused the arrow to enter the deer at the angle we see.
