i shoot a whammy and its very fast but it is known for holding the arrow then dropping quickly. something that was driven would be gone by the time the guard was that far, at least i think.

I shoot a Whammy and I honestly believe it is the fastest drop away rest on the market. If you go to their website they show you in slow motion how the rest works. It hold the arrow on the rest longer causing you to be more accurate, but at the same time drops away fast enough that there are no clearance issues.
