ok indiana does not allow baiting
so i thought about this what if i plant some corn along the wood line when it turns brown go through and pull down the stock exposing the corn if it is growing and still on the plant is it baiting |
RE: is it baiting
According to Illinois law that would be baiting! You can not manipulate the feed other than what is considered normal farming practices.

RE: is it baiting
Why bother? Leave the corn standing, they'll peel it themselves!

Bigtim, if you really want to draw some deer, plant Ladino clover. I'm tellin' ya' it'll be a magnet to the does and therefore the bucks!

Ladino clover. Ryan. |
RE: is it baiting
Ask your local seed dealer, he'll know what it is and if it'll grow in your area. It's hard to get established but once it takes off it'll be good for 2-3 years before you'll need to replant. We used it once on some property we hunted, planted 10 acres of it on CRP ground. I couldn't believe the amount of deer we would see.

RE: is it baiting
Plant some corn, plant some alfalfa and let them grow. Alfalfa will attract them all summer long. Leave the corn hanging as it is. They can get at it and the husk protects it from the weather. Right now the deer around here are digging through a foot of snow and crust in the alfalfa fields. It stays green even under the snow.
