Depends on your draw length, draw length and draw weight are to the biggest factors in speed.

those are fine real world numbers. as long as you can hit where you want, you're fine.

Draw length is a killer. I bought one of those 328 fps Guardians. By the time you put in in my short little arms 27 1/2, throw on some string add ons like whiskers and loops and then shoot a 475 grain arrow,..... well I got it dumbed down to about 260 give or take a couple pounds. MY Darton at the same weight with 50 grain lighter arrows is a tad faster....but not by more than 2 or 3 fps. I suspect that if everyone shot the correct draw length and didn't push the envelope on arrow weight most people would fall in the 235-265 fps in the woods. Speed freaks, well they're their own animal. They got to have the fastest. LOL Long arms make up for a lot.

There is nothing wrong with a 260 fps hunting rig. Most folks I know are right around that mark with arrows in the low to mid 400 grain weight range.

I'm thinking, that Indian"s bows didn't even come close to the speed of todays bow. They still got deer.
