Long bow in person just got to me....

My first bow was a garage sale bought Browning Explorer recurve. I never hunted with it and no longer have it. I will take a deer with traditional one of these days, that would fulfill one of my dreams. I also do not believe anyone could argue against for pure looks a longbow or recurve is much better looking.

Here's the one I made. My baby.
The riser.
Had almost as much fun making it as I do shooting and hunting with it. Bocote riser, hickory limb cores, clear glass on the back and belly. The swoop in the riser is hickory, black glass, osage, black glass and hickory. Didn't turn out too bad for my first laminated bow. 50# @ 31", 68" long. Shoots smooth and sweet,550 gn arrow at 186 fps.

Whats not to like, beautiful to look at, weigh next to nothing, make little or no noise at release, and who doesnt love the smell of cedar shafts.
I hunt with both but carry a stick more than not. Scouting wouldnt be the same if i wasnt flinging arrows at every pine cone or off colored leaf and its not much fun to do that with a compound.

Great looking bow there Art! I made a recurve about 15 years ago, it turned out ok but nothing like what you have there. My dad made a long bow 15 yearsago and stillhunts with that bow today, he really likes it! The best thing I ever did was switch from compound to traditional 15 years ago. Iknow its made me a better hunter then I was before. I've learned to havemore patience, with being patient a person learns so much more about the animal there hunting!

First time I shot a trad bow was this year. My buddy shoots instinctive with a Reflex Caribou, but also has a Fred Bear Montana long bow. He came with our group this year to Montana, and I shot it. I plan on purchasing one, soon...that is if santa isn't nice to me
